I received a letter from William L. Proctor, State Representative, District 20, FL. It is in response to a message I sent from the Natural Solutions Foundation on 25 August 2010. He queries, “Given that I am not familiar with the National (sic) Solutions Foundation, do you have any reliable scientific report prepared by an objective research center that documents the Foundation’s position in regard to Genetically Modified Organism (sic)?
I sent him the following email:

To the Honorable William L. Proctor;
In response to my message of 25 August, you wrote a letter to me stating that you are not familiar with the Natural Solutions Foundation. You asked if I had any reliable scientific report prepared by an objective research center that documents the Foundation’s position in regard to Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s).
The American Academy of Environmental Medicine states,”Genetically Modified foods have not been properly tested and pose a serious health risk. There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation” (http://www.aaemonline.org/gmopost.html). At the bottom of the position paper found at this link is a bibliography listing several animal studies confirmed the strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease.
At this site, http://www.biointegrity.org/list.html, you will find links to scanned reproductions (exact copies) of some of the Food & Drug Administration’ s (FDA) internal memoranda about the hazards of genetically engineered foods.
Richard Strohman, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California at Berkeley, expresses his concerns regarding GMO’s at his site, http://www.mindfully.org/GE/Strohman-Safe-Food.htm.
The Institute for Responsible Technology, http://www.responsi bletechnology.org/utility/showArticle/?objectID=2989, states that more and more doctors are prescribing GM-free diets to their patients, and explains why. “Scientists at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had warned about all these problems even in the early 1990s. According to documents released from a lawsuit, the scientific consensus at the agency was that GM foods were inherently dangerous, and might create hard-to-detect allergies, poisons, gene transfer to gut bacteria, new diseases, and nutritional problems. They urged their superiors to require rigorous long-term tests. But the White House had ordered the agency to promote biotechnology and the FDA responded by recruiting Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, to head up the formation of GMO policy. That policy, which is in effect today, denies knowledge of scientists’ concerns and declares that no safety studies on GMOs are required. It is up to Monsanto and the other biotech companies to determine if their foods are safe. Mr. Taylor later became Monsanto’s vice president.” Some of the studies revealing the dangers of GMO’s cited in this same article are listed below:

Proctor is the first representative to express to me any interest in GMO’s at all. I’d like to encourage all others to contact him with any and all additional scientific studies which document the dangers of GMO’s. We may have an ally in the legislature!
