In a sustainable, wholesome community, food must be clean and unadulterated. Therefore, at VotM, we will grow our own in a BeyondOrganic BioDynamic Zero Emissions [BODYZE™] context. While we provide abundance and health for ourselves, we will be teaching farmers and families to do the same. Reclaiming the production of food and restoring the essential balance of food, farming, community and the environment is essential to any healthy community or nation. The Valley of the Moon™ Eco Demonstration Project (VotM) will provide well-planned, integrated options for healthy living. This program is for individuals who do not want to build their own homes on the trust land, but prefer to have the structures build for them; all structures in any event will be “green” structures.
The Residential Community Program is embedded in the larger purpose and function of the Valley of the Moon. The primary premise of VotM is to introduce best practices around full sustainability – agricultural, health, environmental, economic and cultural and community and to do so with “Passion, Perfection and Profitability”.*
To accomplish this multi-layered and complex goal in a concrete, transmissible fashion, many sub projects are involved, calling upon the wisdom and capacities of local and international experts. VotM Residential Community is one such program, permitting our participants an opportunity to make a home in the pristine environment of the Panama Highlands, with its year-round Spring-like climate in the context of a community which learns, practices and disseminates sustainable techniques, technologies and trends. Private homes will be a part of the focus and function of the community, impacting its form as well.

Mission and Implementation
Mission: The Natural Solutions Foundation in Panama (NSF-P) has been established exclusively for charitable, educational, literary and scientific research purposes, with the express intent of creating an Eco Demonstration Project and Educational Program in Panama that includes residences, a farm and farm school, health, performing arts, seminar and performance centers and our VotM Community Outreach Program
.
NSF-P is a sister Foundation to the Natural Solutions Foundation (NSF-US), a humanitarian tax exempt NGO whose mission is “To discover, develop, document, demonstrate and disseminate Natural Solutions to the problems facing us and threatening our health and freedom, achieving and maintaining a healthy self, community and world.” In accordance with the Panama Escritura, NSF-P “is constituted with the purpose to promote, develop and execute projects with charitable purposes in Panama and in other countries around the world.” Valley of the Moon Eco Demonstration Project and its embedded Residential Community is one such project.
To further the purposes of the Foundations, we have also established a commercial enterprise in Panama, the Natural Solutions Corporation (NSC), which is empowered to receive funds for land and other development purposes, acting under the provision of the Escritura which permits and encourages NSF-P to establish such enterprises.
In keeping with this purpose, NSF-P has created the Valley of the Moon™ Eco Demonstration Community (VotM) which is in the Chiriquí Highlands. VotM is a demonstration Seed Community with diverse activities serving a common purpose:
– A BeyondOrganic, BioDynamic, Zero Emissions (BODYZE™) farm providing:
1. A complete and affordable food supply for the members of the community and the surrounding areas of Panama
2. A “BeyondOrganic, BioDynamic, Zero Emissions” (BODY-ZE™)* Farm and Farm School demonstrating and disseminating best practices and techniques both in commercial farming and Intensive Urban Agriculture (IUA) applications.
– The Advanced Natural Solutions Health and Wellness Center providing natural and advanced health services and education in a world-class Health and Wellness Facility as a Health Destination to which residents of the Valley of the Moon™ Eco Demonstration Community, the wider community, Panama, the region and the global community may come. Since several of our participants are world-renowned health practitioners, this goal is realistic. Bringing in Practitioners in Residence will broaden and deepen these options. The initial site of the Center will be at the foundation’s Headquarters Finca in Volcan; expected opening: Spring 2010. The Wellness Center draft Protocol can be found through www.DrRima.net
– A net-energy producing, low-resource consumption, energy-independent community using Zero Emissions Farming and other accessible technology to meet and exceed its own needs. Techniques to apply off-grid energy options will be shared with the local and wider communities.
-A Community Arts and Education Center
– A Restaurant(s) and Teaching Kitchen to share nutritional abundance and options with interested eaters and learners
– A Nature Preserve, Recreation and Wilderness Area holding land in trust for future generations
– A hotel and eco tourism facility where seminar participants, medical and wellness tourism guests and those enjoying the beauties of the environment (and the BeyondOrganic BioDynamic cuisine) can enjoy their time at the VotM
– A Residential Community in which VotM full-time participants can reside
– An educational system for the children of residents and those in the local community who choose to have their children attend
– A local economy to allow both VotM residents and those in the local community who wish to participate in it a means of stabilizing their economic situation avoiding the need to expend Balboa for local products, goods and services.

Concept & Sites
Walking the Land Allows Participants to Visualize Their Homes
Valley of the Moon™ Residential Community is an activity of the Natural Solutions Foundation’s International Decade of Nutrition (IDN). The central concept of IDN lies in the belief that a healthy food supply is essential to a healthy community, in both the local and wider sense, and is fully achievable. Such a health food supply will be established in the context of intact communities of producers and consumers using best practices (which are, by definition, toxin free).
Some functions are best housed on the same site, while others are most successfully placed on varied sites. For that reason, VotM plans to operate at several sites but its main site will be in the Chiriqui Highlands.
GMO-Free, Pesticide Free Coffee Harvested at Valley of the Moon™
The Valley of the Moon™ Coffee Finca is located in Santa Clara. Coffee production areas: 10 prime hectares of land planted with prized specialty coffees grown over 1200 m (approximately 4000 ft) producing containers of roast coffee produced under the Valley of the Moon™ label by the renowned Hartmann family. Additional coffee areas will be planted as terrain and conditions allow. An additional prime 10 Hectares is also part of the VotM Coffee Finca
The Headquarters, Hospitality, Intensive Agriculture Training Area and Seminar Center are currently located in Volcan. A .78 Hectaria parcel of land with two houses and associated structures is expected to be developed to accommodate an 18-person hotel, seminar facility, NSF-P headquarters (including administration, communications, reception/hospitality) and an Intensive Urban Agriculture (IAU) food production training area. A professional kitchen specifically designed for teaching purposes will facilitate both outstanding food service and culinary education for health and sustainability. Education and employment opportunities for local personnel are part of the program. Managerial skills will be fostered and taught so that personnel become empowered to develop their own enterprises after association with the VotM project.

With future development, emphasis will shift from the property nearest Volcan to larger sites for most of the functions fulfilled by the initial Volcan site. But for the foreseeable future, Volcan will house the social and active part of the community’s life.
The Residential Community Project Site will be located on a minimum of 20 to 50 hectares (50 – 100 acres) along with cultural, health and various social upliftment projects in the area.
The site will see the fully developed BeyondOrganic BioDynamic Zero Emissions farm and farm school, sharing the site with our hotel, housing, food service, performance and arts center, seminar, wellness facility and recreational areas. This integrated community will serve as a hub for the VotM project. The initial area can easily be expanded by acquiring the surrounding land.
It is on pristine land that the initial Residential Community will be developed.
It is important to note that land will be part of a land trust. Individual lots will not be sold. Rather, 99 year leases, renewable in perpetuity, will be offered. Residential Community participants are free to build the house of their desires on the land. They will have full ownership of the house.
NSF-P will hold the land in common as a land-lease program while the various uses of the land support and sustain a community with diverse functions, all of which are focused around teaching and dissemination. All aspects of the community will be designed to serve as demonstrations of sustainable, reproducible and transmissible solutions to the problems facing communities all over the world.
Undeveloped, protected forest and water-shed areas will be maintained and extended. We are working with another international NGO to plant large areas of fruit and nut trees with the goal of providing education for farmers on how to develop those crops using totally natural techniques. Lower elevation lands are currently being acquired to provide farm schools and food in different micro climates.
The Project will be based on a land trust model: individual lots will not be sold, but leased with a perpetually renewable lease, assignable to heirs and others, and saleable with right of first refusal going to the community. Residential Community participants will own their own dwellings and will have the right to a voice in community governance.

VotM Residential Community Program (RCP) Details
The Residential Community Participation (RCP) is structured as follows:
Participation: $75,000. Not including cost of housing.
Receipt of One Beneficial Interest Certificate (BIC)
Benefits of the BIC:
• Bears accumulating interest at Banco National Prime Rate, currently 4%. (Community economic activities support the interest payments)
• Permits participation in Community Governance
• Provides access to BODY-ZE foods at coop prices
• Provides access to community goods and services at coop prices.
• Provides perpetually renewable 99 year land lease for home site (homesite locations to be determined by community architectural and land use plan; choice of sites in order of BIC issuance)
Each RCP BIC is entitled to the choice of a 2,000 to 2,500 sq ft “green” home, at participant’s cost, with community oversight.
BIC holder owns the home and may sell or will it, subject to standard coop community approval. New purchaser of home will refund cost of BIC to seller.
As with any new community which offers beneficial interests or other joint potential, we cannot promise the rate of return but can provide information to make a realistic assessment of the opportunities presented possible. We believe a conservative estimate of potential shows the Eco Valley concept, here in the Valley of the Moon™, offers competitive financial and social benefits.

Food is becoming a battle ground like no other: freedom, survival, fascistic take over of a once-free people (more or less, at least), corporate triumph over independent producers – it’s all happening around food. And the mechanism is simple: a set of bills ostensibly devoted to “food safety” and “food security”.

In essence, these bills are a sneak attack implementation of Codex Alimentarius. The Natural Solutions Foundation has been warning that organic farming and home growing, clean food and food freedom were under heavy attack. Here is the Mother of All Food Fascism Assaults and we still have some time to defeat it.
Congress often comes up with bad ideas. This is not just a bad idea: it is a catastrophically bad idea for health and freedom. In fact, it is nothing short of food tyranny and will kill not only organic farming, but lots of people as well, along with the entire private farming sector. Your own gardens are at risk as well.
I cannot urge you strongly enough to take action NOW (we have only a few days to create the urgent push-back needed to fend off this disastrous legislation. SUMMARY: Abolition by Regulation… the end of Food Freedom
I have devoted decades to the study and practice of regulatory law, dealing with the seemingly endless onslaught of United States government agencies like FDA, USDA, EPA, FTC and others to curb and deny our constitutionally and legislatively guaranteed freedoms. I have seen bad regulatory ideas come and (often, with sufficient push-back) go. But I cannot remember any time in my long legal career seeing such rapid, and, if left unchecked, cataclysmic regulation for fascism and loss of rights as in the food regulation proposed under the current bills to industrialize food with the National Animal Identification System, Codex Alimentarius and North American Union.
While the Obamists claim to be agents of “Change”, that change is toward food fascism, not freedom. It is toward regulating food freedom into food crimes. It is toward making criminals of those who would control “their own seed and their own feed.”
HR 875 and S 425 are not just bad bills (Congress comes up with those, usually at the behest of industry) all the time. They are much worse than that.
Tyrants inevitably seek to control food. Fascism and food are always linked.
Sometimes the link is who may have access to food – please the tyrant and you eat. Sometimes the link is more subtle: the tyrant wants you ill so that you cannot resist because you are weak and distracted by illness….

So HR 875 and S 425 will “protect” us out of our birthright to clean, unadulterated food grown by those who would produce such natural bounty. Instead, food will be chipped, irradiated, contaminated, industrialized, genetically modified and demineralized to “protect” us from independence, from health, from autonomy and self-sufficiency.

SUMMARY: You know what it takes to make change…
YOU ARE VERY MUCH NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!
Kathy here. I am the lady who answers emails for NSF. Recently, I received an email from a person which surprised me more than most! She apparently thought that we have a big switchboard of operators who answer questions and solicit donations. She must have had us mixed up with some other organization, because we do not have the money for a switchboard of phone lines and we have never solicited monies by phone. She implied that we have a big fancy office where people answer mail and organize events. While I think that would be lovely, the fact is that less than a dozen people are putting in the time necessary to keep this operation running. I am the person answering emails and I do it
from my kitchen table.
NSF is the largest health freedom organization in the world. Hundreds of thousands of health freedom advocates read our emails, alerts and send messages to Congress through these mailings. When we visit the Capitol, our name is recognized. It costs a minimum of about $12,000 per month to maintain this organization. We pay for websites and a webmaster and researchers; we pay the company that maintains our lists; we pay for each of those eblasts that are sent to Washington (and we send many!); we pay the train fare – travel fare to Washington; we pay for informational videos; and most important, we pay for trips to Codex meetings which occur several times a year in different parts of the world. We do this on a shoestring budget, as inexpensively as we can. Because we do this, we are able to keep our readers up to date on health freedom issues and organized to fight the Powers that would destroy your health.
The problem? We are not bringing in enough in donations to cover our costs. You say, “How can that be? With so many people on your list, getting your emails, you should be taking in lots of money, every month!” The fact is, most people (over 98% of our readers) contribute absolutely no money to this effort. Oh they are happy to join in on eblasts (and we are glad that they do!) and they are happy we are here making sure that they can continue to purchase nutrients, and they want us to win this health freedom war– but they want their neighbors to pay for it. We know there are many of you out there who are having severe financial problems. We have people who pledged as little as $5.00 a month, who now cannot afford that amount, given the economy. We understand- and do not expect those in such positions to donate. But there are many out there who can afford to donate the monies necessary to keep this battle going, —and donations to us are tax deductible, another incentive for giving.
Now there are those who would love to see NSF fail. There are FDA/Big Pharma owned Congress-leaches who would be happy if we stopped sending them messages.There are certain big companies who would love it if there were no well organized opposition to their plans. But we intend to keep at this as long as we possibly can – with YOUR help. So make that contribution today- and, if you can, make it monthly! If only 12,000 of you each sent $1.00 a month, we could pay our bills. If more is sent, we can do more! We would love to be able to place advertising to reach more of the general public with the health freedom message! This will cost money!
I am getting letters every day, from Scandinavia, Holland, Germany,– places where parts of Codex are already being adopted and people are having trouble getting the nutrients they want. A woman from Holland informed me that she ordered nutrients from the U.S. but they were promptly seized by Customs. She managed to get a few items from England, but she is not sure how long she will be able to do that. When she complains to politicians, she is told that she should get her nutrients from the foods she eats. Of course, if humanity loses this battle, that food will all be gm and toxic. The Trustees of the Foundation take great pleasure in announcing the establishment of a private association, NGO, the International Peace Research Institute. The purpose of the institute is to further the intention expressed through our International Decade of Nutrition, “to discover, develop, demonstrate and disseminate Natural Solutions for achieving and maintaining World Peace…”

The initial President of the Institute is Maj. Gen. Bert Stubblebine (USA ret). Dr. Rima E. Laibow is the Director of the Institute and Ralph Fucetola JD is its Secretary.
The first public act of the Institute was to deliver a statement on Health, Peace and Honest Money to the “End the Fed” Rally at the Federal Reserve Building, New York City, on November 22, 2008.

Resolution Establishing
The Private Association of the
Natural Solutions
International Peace Research Institute
This Resolution is adopted under authority of the Natural Solutions Foundation, duly filed as a non-profit private interest entity in the Republic of Panama on December 11, 2007 (Escritura No. 16996) in cooperation with the Natural Solutions Foundation, a not for profit Nevada corporation recognized as exempt in the United States.
1. Establishment. The Trustees of the Foundation do hereby establish a private, international non-governmental Association known as the Natural Solutions Foundation International Peace Research Institute, herein, the Institute. The juridical location of the Institute shall be in Chiriqui Province of the Republic of Panama or wherever the Trustees shall from time to time determine by written Resolution. It is a Foundation integrated auxiliary.
2. Mission. A. The Institute is established exclusively for charitable, educational, literary and scientific research purposes. The Primary Goal of the Institute, as a private international association, is to discover, develop, demonstrate and disseminate Natural Solutions for achieving and maintaining World Peace in conjunction with the overall Mission of the Foundation. In accordance with Escritura No. 16996, the “Foundation is constituted with the purpose to promote, develop and execute projects with charitable purposes in Panama and in other countries around the world.â€
3. Participants. Appropriate persons or other entities may be invited by the Trustees to participate in the Institute as Benefactors, Participants, Advisers or Associates under this Resolution (in general, the Associates of the Institute). Voting rights in the Institute are restricted as provided herein.
4. Governance. A. The Governing Structures of the Institute are: (1) the Foundation Trustees to exercise overall oversight over the general programs and policies of the Institute and to appoint and remove the Associates of the Institute, Members of the Council and the Officers thereof, (2) the Officers of the Institute and (3) the Institute Council to advise the Trustees and Officers on Institute matters. The Council shall act by signed, dated, written Resolutions or Rules consistent with this Resolution, by absolute majority, with the consent of the Trustees who retain a veto over Officer and Council actions, and in the event of deadlock, the Trustees are empowered to act on behalf of the Institute.
B. The Foundation, in accordance with the provisions of the Escritura, does not affiliate with any political or religious organization. The Institute shall not restrict non-violent and individually respectful political and religious expression and permits religious organizations whose beliefs are compatible with the Mission of the Institute to associate and participate with the Institute, upon approval of the Trustees.
5. Officers. The Director of the Institute is the Chief Executive Officer and supervisor of the Institute and shall preside over its Officers, Council and activities, under Resolutions or Rules adopted by the Council that are not inconsistent with this Resolution. The Director and such Assistant Directors and Associate Directors as the Council may determine shall be appointed, and are removable by the Trustees.
6. Authority. The Governing Structure, or their duly appointed successors and agents, shall have full and absolute power, control and authority over the activities and property of the Institute, subject only to the limitations expressly stated in this Resolution and the Escritura, including those expressed herein, and to do following:
(1) To purchase, lease or otherwise acquire real or other property, and to conserve or improve, or to sell, exchange, lease, mortgage, grant easements, pledge, or in any manner dispose of, encumber, improve or deal with the property of the Institute or any part thereof or any interest therein, upon such terms and for such consideration as they deem proper (by Resolutions or Rules of the Council, with the consent of the Director and Trustees;
(2) to incur indebtedness, borrow, or lend money with or without security; enter into contracts of all kinds; execute, accept, discount, negotiate and deal in commercial paper, evidence of indebtedness and securities or options of all types whatsoever; to purchase or otherwise acquire gold, silver, precious materials and objects of all types; and execute conveyances, mortgages, security agreements, leases, and any other instruments, all on behalf of the Institute only (by Resolutions or Rules of the Council, with the consent of the Director and Trustees;
(3) to compromise or settle any suits, claims or demands, or waive any rights relating to the property of the Institute (by Resolutions or Rules of the Council with the consent of the Director and Trustees;;
(4) to appoint officers, agents, attorneys, brokers, accountants, ministers, and servants, providing the same (where appropriate) reasonable allowances, fees, commissions, salaries and expenses, as well as paying professional and other proper expenses (and to suspend any appointee, or terminate any appointee for cause) (by the Director under Resolutions or Rules of the Council);
(5) to sue, prosecute and defend any and all actions in Courts of Law or Equity and before Arbitration Tribunals, or elsewhere, affecting the Institute or its property (by the Director with the consent of the Trustees;);
(6) to incorporate the Institute in such jurisdiction(s) as may be convenient and necessary for the proper functioning of the Institute (by Resolutions or Rules of the Council with the consent of the Director and Trustees);
(7) to carry-on the International Peace Research activities of the Institute internationally and to present, as an NGO, its concerns to individuals, groups and organizations throughout the world (by Resolutions or Rules of the Foundation Council with the consent of the Director and Trustees;);
7. Limitations. Insofar as any of the activities of the Foundation is subject to United States jurisdiction, the following limitations, numbered 1 through 5 shall apply to those activities of the Foundation. Insofar as the Foundation or Institute is subject to Panama jurisdiction, the following limitations, numbered 6 through 7 shall apply. Insofar as the laws of other jurisdictions, including international law, provide for similar restrictions to qualify as a non-governmental organization (NGO) under United Nations or other auspices, such similar restrictions, or other requirements, as may be required, may be adopted by Resolution of the Council, approved by the Trustees.
(1) The Foundation shall carry on no activities not permitted to be carried on [1] by a body exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (or the corresponding provision of any future United States internal revenue law) or [2] by a body, contributions to which are deductible under section 170(c)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code (or the corresponding provision of any future United States internal revenue law).
(2) No substantial part of the activities of the Institute shall be carrying on propaganda or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, or participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf or any candidate for political office or public office.
(3) In the event of dissolution, all of the remaining assets and property of the Institute shall, after necessary expenses, thereof, be distributed to such organizations as shall qualify under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (or the corresponding provision of any future United States internal revenue law), and the purposes of which are compatible with the purposes of the Institute.
(4) No part of the income of the Institute shall inure to the private benefit of any member, advisor, or official, or any private individual (except reasonable compensation for services to or for the Institute) and no adviser or official of the Institute, or any private individual, shall be entitled to share in the distribution of the assets on dissolution.
(5) In determining compensation, if any, for officers and trustees, the Institute shall approve compensation arrangements, follow a conflict of interest policy, approve compensation arrangements in advance of paying compensation and document in writing the date and terms of approved compensation arrangements, record in writing the decision made by each individual who decided or voted on compensation arrangements, approve compensation arrangements based on information about compensation paid by similarly situated taxable or tax-exempt organizations for similar services, current compensation surveys compiled by independent firms, or actual written offers from similarly situated organizations, and record in writing both the information on which you relied to base your decision and its source. Furthermore, the Board shall adopt a standard Conflict of Interest Policy.
(6) “The Foundation is a nonprofit private interest entity, without any affiliation [“adscripcion†= “ascriptionâ€] to any political or religious organization. Nevertheless, it may carry out mercantile activities in a non-customary manner, or exercise the rights coming from the titles representing the capital of mercantile corporations that are from the foundation’s patrimony as far of the results of such economic activities are exclusively done for the purposes of the foundation.â€
(7) This Resolution is subject to all other limitations and provisions of Escriura No. 16996.
8. Amendment. This Resolution may be amended only upon a written Resolution proposed by any Officer, adopted by the Council, with the consent of all the Trustees.
9. Arbitration and Mediation; Law. All disputes arising under, or involving the meaning of this Resolution and Resolutions or Rules of the Council, or among the Associates of the Institute, including the trustees, benefactors, participants, associates, directors, council members, officers, advisors, homestead heirs, the Institute and its agencies, shall be settled by mediation and binding arbitration. Any such dispute may be referred by any party for binding arbitration pursuant to the Rules then in effect, and under the auspices of the International Chambers of Commerce (as near the location of the occurrence as possible), or such other arbitrator to which the parties may agree.
C. Any arbitration decision may be enforced in any tribunal of competent jurisdiction.
D. In general, the Directors, Officers, Council and agents of the Institute shall seek advice and consult with the Trustees and Participants, Advisors or Associates about matters affecting them, seeking to reach consensus wherever possible.
E. General principles of right and justice, with this Resolution, are the primary source of the law of this private contract among the persons mentioned herein. The law of the Republic of Panama or other competent jurisdiction, where not inconsistent, shall also govern.
F. All Associates of the Institute pledge to act honestly, honorably and in good faith toward the Institute and the other Associates of the Institute, without unreasonably withholding required consents and without unreasonable delay. The autonomy, human rights and property (including Intellectual Property) of each participant is inviolate.
Unanimously adopted by the Trustees as of the 22nd day of November, 2008.
The Independent on Sunday, one of Britain’s leading newspapers, published the following report about a secret meeting in which each of the Prime Ministers of the EU’s 27 countries were asked to nominate a representative to attend a secret meeting designed to develop strategies to force GMOs on a vigorously resistant public.
In the EU, all GMO foods and ingredients must be clearly labeled although animals fed GMO feeds are not labeled despite the fact that their meat and other products contain GMO materials.
Predictably, there is a growing push back movement in the EU against this food tyranny. There needs to be more or same here since, according to a New York Times article, 87% of the American people want clear identification of any GMO products or ingredients in the “foods” they are eating.
More than 80% of all foods consumed in the US contain unlabeled and unidentified GMOs.

Europe’s secret plan to boost GM crop production
Gordon Brown and other EU leaders in campaign to promote modified foods

Gordon Brown and other European leaders are secretly preparing an unprecedented campaign to spread GM crops and foods in Britain and throughout the continent, confidential documents obtained by The Independent on Sunday reveal.
The documents – minutes of a series of private meetings of representatives of 27 governments – disclose plans to “speed up” the introduction of the modified crops and foods and to “deal with” public resistance to them.
And they show that the leaders want “agricultural representatives” and “industry” – presumably including giant biotech firms such as Monsanto – to be more vocal to counteract the “vested interests” of environmentalists.
News of the secret plans is bound to create a storm of protest at a time when popular concern about GM technology is increasing, even in countries that have so far accepted it.
Public opposition has prevented any modified crops from being grown in Britain. France, one of only three countries in Europe to have grown them in any amounts, has suspended their cultivation, and resistance to them is rising rapidly in the other two, Spain and Portugal.
The embattled biotech industry has been conducting a public relations campaign based round the highly contested assertion that genetic modification is needed to feed the world. It has had some success in the Government, where ministers have been increasingly speaking out in favour of the technology, and in the European Commission, with which its lobbyists have boasted of having “excellent working relations”.
The secret meetings were convened by Jose Manuel Barroso, the pro-GM President of the Commission, and chaired by his head of cabinet, Joao Vale de Almeida. The prime ministers of each of the EU’s 27 member states were asked to nominate a special representative.
Neither the membership of the group, nor its objectives, nor the outcomes of its meetings have been made public. But The IoS has obtained confidential documents, including an attendance list and the conclusions of the two meetings held so far – on 17 July and just two weeks ago on 10 October – written by the chairman.
The list shows that President Nicolas Sarkozy of France and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany sent close aides. Britain was represented by Sonia Phippard, director for food and farming at the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The conclusions reveal the discussions were mainly preoccupied with how to speed up the introduction of GM crops and food and how to persuade the public to accept them.
The modified products have to be approved by the EU before they can be sown or sold anywhere in Europe. But though the Commission officials are generally strongly in favour, European governments are split, causing the Council of Ministers, on which they are represented, to be deadlocked.
In that event the bureaucrats on the Commission wave them through anyway. They are legally allowed to do this, but overruled governments and environmental groups are unhappy.
The conclusions of the first meeting called for the “speeding up of the authorisation process based on robust assessments so as to reassure the public”, while the second one added: “Decisions could be made faster without compromising safety.”
But the documents also make clear that Mr Barroso is going beyond mere exhortation by trying to get prime ministers to overrule their own agriculture and environment ministers in favour of GM. They report that the chairman “recalled the importance for prime ministers to look at the wider picture”, “invited the participants to report the discussions of the group to their heads of governments”, and “stressed the importance of drawing their attention to ongoing discussions in the Council [of Ministers]”.
Helen Holder of Friends of the Earth Europe said: “Barroso’s aim is to get GM into Europe as quickly as possible. So he is going straight to prime ministers and presidents to tell them to step on their ministers and get them into line.”
The conclusions of the meetings on public opposition are even more incendiary. The documents ponder “how best to deal with public opinion” and call for “an emotion-free, fact-based dialogue on the high standards of the EU GM policy”. And they record the chairman emphasising “the role of industry, economic partners and science to actively contribute to such a dialogue”. He adds that “the public feels ill-informed” and says “agricultural representatives should be more vocal”. And in a veiled swipe at environmental groups he says that the debate “should not be left to certain stakeholders who have a legitimate but vested interest in it”.

“Admittedly, there is something very odd, and slightly disturbing, in the spectacle of a fight over who owns the DNA of a virus that could kill millions of people around the world. Should a country retain property rights to the strains of diseases that plague its citizens? There is also, as always, the niggling question of how the world is to fund the development of new vaccines if the few companies that are capable of producing the medicine aren’t compensated for their efforts. Finally, it would seem to me that there is a clear difference between a U.S. government agency owning a patent and a company such as GlaxoSmithKline staking the claim.”
DNA as property is a terrifying reality. When the US Supreme Court opined that genomes could be patented, the risk to the global biosphere was generally little recognized. Given the unstable and unpredictable consequences of biotechnology insertion of genes into host genomes, and the novel (and potentially harmful or lethal) molecules coded for by this process, the “ownership” of viral DNA sequences is even more ominous.
Weaponization of the avian flu has already taken place through
1. Combining the genome of “seasonal flu” viruses with the then-harmless H5N1 avian flu to find the combinations which yielded enhanced pathogenicity (NIH, 2006),
2. Reconstruction of the genome of the most successful bio weapon in history, the 1918 pandemic flu virus (NIH, Mt Sinai Med. Coll, 2000 – 2006)
3. Intentional combination of the H5N1 virus with the newly reconstructed 1918 pandemic flu genome (NIH, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, 2006).
Vaccines allegedly protective against this novel virus are then developed and, like the Sanofi-Pasteur vaccine manufactured in China after approval in the absence of formal human trials, sold to governments for vast sums of money (e.g., 100M doses @$15 US per dose) for stock piling.
Indonesia now says that it owns its valuable resource, the supposedly deadly Avian Flu virus. The United Nations issued a special report on the thorny question of whether a virus that kills someone in a particular country “belongs” to that country.
Besides the absurdity of owning life, and creating a totally artificial geographic demarcation through which to exercise control of that organism, the impetus to commercialize pathogens for nation states and predatory companies will, I fear, prove irresistible. Now add organized crime and rogue states (large or small) into the mix and you have a recipe far, far more toxic than the supposed pandemic Avian Flu.
Greed and technology are a deadly mix. If you doubt that, look at the so called “Health Care” system in the West and consider that since it makes no money if you are well, its best interest is served by the weaponization of food (i.e., Codex Alimentarius – see my video “Nutricide” on our website, www.HealthFreedomUSA.org or www.YouTube.com/NaturalSolutions) and the demonization of natural prevention and treatment so ubiquitous in the West.
Ownership of life forms, pathogenic or otherwise is, in short, a massive error and a monstrous reality which must be reversed for everyone’s benefit.
On August 21, Andrew Leonard wrote an article called Biopiracy and Bird Flu. That article, which follows, discusses the consequences of the confluence of the US Supreme Court’s decision to allow ownership of organisms, the unbridled greed and lack of ethics of the pharmaceutical/illness care industry and the horrifying reality of the depopulation agenda which, thanks to blatant hubris and Freedom of Information Act suits, is no longer speculation but fact.
Prince Phillip yearning to “come back” as an Ebola virus so that he can help depopulate the planet and Henry Kissinger’s Memo 200, the Council on Foreign Relations documents, the Phillipine Supreme Court’s finding that WHO vaccines did, indeed, contain permanent sterility agents which sterilized some 3 million unsuspecting women (and the use of the same technology in Africa, South and Central America, South East Asia and elsewhere) followed by the tardy admission of the World Health Organization that they were using such agents mixed into vaccines are part of a patchwork of death and global supremacy which is horrifyingly plain to see, yet tragically, criminally, perhaps, overlooked by the MMD (Media of Mass Deception).
The worm, or perhaps the virus, is turning now, though. Those very countries which would first be the targets of these depopulation plans and programs (the developed world is in the plan, too – Kissinger stated that depopulation should be the US’s first foreign policy priority starting with the third world, remember) have noticed that at least short term gains, but very substantial ones, can come from controlling, weaponizing and commercializing those lethal viruses among themselves. After all, once exposed to deadly agents like dioxin, ordinary viruses can mutate into very profitable killers. The US obligingly contaminated large parts of South East Asia with dioxin and other deadly poisons.
Moreover, vaccinated birds, not outside flocks, develop avian flu through mutations since they are raised in toxic environments (the birds in their industrialized chicken coops and the viruses in their poison-rich test tubes and growth bottles) and induced to mutation by those toxic conditions.
Now nations like Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Viet Nam and a host of others are ready for the Big Time: ready to develop, sell or license their deadly dollar cargo to the even bigger boys: the US, WHO or Big Pharma. All of this falls apart, of course, if the Bigger Boys get their hands and microscopes and vats on these “resources” first.
As events would have it, the fears that they will be done out of their valuable resources is quite accurate. Indonesia is not going to like the fact that a WHO affiliate, the CDC, has applied for a patent on the genome of the Indonesian Avian Flu. Nor will it be happy with the fact that GlaxoSmithKlein is manufacturing a “preventive” Avian Flu vaccine using strains from Viet Nam and elsewhere. So these fears about loosing significant revenue are not unfounded.
Do you find something wrong with this picture? The Natural Solutions Foundation certainly finds the trend, and the mindset, beyond ominous.
Let’s say you’ve got a lab, a virus and a hereditary tribe your people have been warring with for a thousand years. Like the “Islamic Nuclear Bomb” (or the Capitalist Nuclear Bomb), or Depleted Uranium or any other weapon of mass destruction, the mutated, weaponized virus in your tanks could be used on your enemies with the ever present justification that people build for themselves in situations like this. Or, if vaccines were to actually work, you could imagine giving the vaccine to your people and unleashing the disease on the other tribe.
Or, if you are the US, you could stockpile untested, not particularly safe or effective vaccines which would cause widespread… what? Illness? Death? Cancer? Infertility? Adult Autism? Novel vulnerabilities or diseases? Remember, there is no liability in the US for whatever a previously approved drug or vaccine does to you or your child or your mother or your ….
Merchants of death, indeed. Is this the world we want to leave to our children? What are you ready to do about it?

In late 2006, Indonesia sparked a furor in the international public health community when the country announced it would no longer supply samples of the H5N1 strain of bird flu to the World Health Organization. It wasn’t fair, complained the developing nation, which is second only to Vietnam in recorded cases of human deaths from bird flu: Indonesia was providing crucial data for researchers working on vaccines, but prices for proprietary pharmaceutical products resulting from that data were too high for most Indonesians to afford. If you want to understand why citizens of developing nations get aggrieved about biopiracy, there’s a clue.
After a flurry of worldwide publicity, Indonesia relented, and in March announced it would resume sending samples to the W.H.O., provided that the samples were not made available to commercial organizations. The debate over how best to serve the interests of both developing nations and pharmaceutical companies was by no means resolved, and according to the New York Times, Indonesia received only a tepid promise from W.H.O. “not to pass their samples on to commercial manufacturers without consulting the health minister of the country that provided the sample,” but a clear point had been made.
Now in what appears to be something of a scoop, a freelancer writer and specialist in patents has revealed that even as Indonesia was threatening to withhold its samples, the United States government was applying for an international patent on a new vaccine that incorporates genetic code derived from Indonesian avian influenza samples.
Writes Edward Hammond, in the Aug. 15 issues of SUNS:
In a development that is likely to raise more pressing questions about reform of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance Network (GISN), an international patent application has surfaced in which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and U.S. National Institutes of Health claim ownership of Indonesian influenza genes.
A recent patent search has revealed that the CDC, which is a WHO collaborating centre, is applying for a patent for a new vaccine against influenza, particularly for bird flu (H5N1). The vaccine incorporates genes from a H5N1 strain isolated from an Indonesian human victim of bird flu in 2005.
The strain that contains the genes was transferred to the WHO GISN by Indonesia for characterization for public health purposes, but may wind up as the property of the US government.
Under U.S. law, the U.S. government agencies would offer licenses to the technology to pharmaceutical companies. The patent application indicates that the US government intends to pursue the claim in most countries of the world, including Indonesia itself, as well as neighboring countries.
One follower of intellectual property and public health at the blog IPMed found the patent application “troubling”:
The patent application raises specific questions about the US CDC, which is a WHO Collaborating Center for influenza virus studies. The WHO Collaborating Centers receive influenza viruses from donor countries for public health characterization purposes, and not for the purposes of making proprietary claims. The Global Influenza Surveillance Network’s effectiveness rests on the prompt sharing of and access to viruses from all donors. However, one wonders how many donor countries will wish to continue to share influenza viruses for research and vaccine development if it is that Governments who operate Collaborating Centers are minded to make proprietary claims over the materials which they have received as a result of the GISN system. Obviously this patent application built on the back of the GISN system of virus sharing will call into question the entire system and may very well undermine its effectiveness.
Admittedly, there is something very odd, and slightly disturbing, in the spectacle of a fight over who owns the DNA of a virus that could kill millions of people around the world. Should a country retain property rights to the strains of diseases that plague its citizens? There is also, as always, the niggling question of how the world is to fund the development of new vaccines if the few companies that are capable of producing the medicine aren’t compensated for their efforts. Finally, it would seem to me that there is a clear difference between a U.S. government agency owning a patent and a company such as GlaxoSmithKline staking the claim.
Unless, of course, the U.S. does end up licensing its patent to Big Pharma without requiring some developing nation equity, in return.
