Ladies and Gentlemen of the Health Freedom Community,
Our Foundation Counsel Ralph and I have been discussing Sen. Rand Paul’s “Life at Conception Act” which would enact that human personhood and life begin at conception, with the intent purpose of reversing the US Supreme Court case of Roe v Wade. Ralph said,
Honorable people can disagree on the wisdom or morality of abortion. However, what we must all agree is to allow enough legal space so that neither side is driven to extremes. When an issue is so sensitive, so private, it is important for there to be public space for compromise.
That is what Roe v Wade is all about. The case says that the government has no legitimate interest in controlling women’s reproductive decisions, at least until the end of the first trimester.
Extreme political fervor can lead to horrific results. For example, I suspect neither the Abolitionists nor the slavers really wanted (nor expected) the devastation wrought by the world’s first “modern war” a century and a half ago. Like slavery (which to almost everyone is clearly an evil) abortion raises deep feelings on both sides.
Compromise opens the legal space for those who feel strongly to believe that their side is being given some respect. Just as we must reject the genocidal insanity of the Oxford “ethicist” who believes it is moral to kill unwanted or imperfect newborns, we ought to reject the “right to lifers” who think every sperm is sacred; that a woman loses her right to control her own body when she becomes pregnant.
Ralph and I don’t always agree on everything and I suspect that not many women would be as even-handed on this issue as is he. But I write to you today not as a woman, nor even as a doctor, but as a free citizen who asserts, with total conviction, the right to own my own body, without qualification or demurral. I write to you, today to remind you that no matter what your personal convictions about the correctness of any medical procedure, if a sovereign individual wishes to apply that procedure to his – or, in this case, her own body – that such a private, personal decision is, and must be, paramount over all other considerations.
My body, and yours, cannot be held in bondage to anyone else’s conviction of what I must, must not, should, should not, can, cannot, may or may not do with my body.
And so, the contention that anyone, anyone at all, in whatever position, can decide for any woman, anywhere on the planet, what happens to her body if she conceives, under whatever circumstances is, quite frankly, repugnant to me. Equally so, any restriction on how a woman chooses to prevent pregnancy.
Woman need to be empowered to be able to control their own reproduction. I have strong reason to believe, based on my research and understanding, that technologies are coming onto the market that will let any women know, precisely, when she is fertile and when not; when she is pregnant and when not. Of course it would be best for woman to be empowered to control their own reproductive choices with such natural means, with biofeedback knowledge of their own bodies. Please take this seriously. This Foundation will be in the forefront of the “discovery, documentation, development, demonstration and dissemination…” of this extraordinary technology.
I know that some of you reading this will be offended because we at the Natural Solutions Foundation do not support standard “pro-life” positions. We do not.
Of course, we do respect everyone’s right to have a position on this important issue.
I know that some of you will be offended because we do not support Dr. Rand Paul’s legislation which, to my mind, frankly, is designed to make certain medical choices that are currently legal, namely voluntary termination of pregnancy during the first trimester, illegal. We do not.
Ralph reminds us:
When an issue is as divisive as abortion, with diametrically opposed private values, we need public compromise. That is what Roe v Wade is all about. It says the government will not interfere. Compromise is not always a good thing. The Abolitionists used to say, “gradualism in theory is perpetuity in practice…” Roe v Wade represents a judicious compromise that has kept some civil peace among contending positions. Congress ought not overturn it.
Some will feel that we should make an exception to our unswerving position on self-ownership, because of the importance of giving – or not giving – vaccines, for example. We do not.
Your body (and, by extension, that of your children) quite literally belongs to you. If you wish to have an abortion, you must have the right to do so without being held hostage to another being. If you do not wish to do so, you must have that right without being held hostage to another’s insistence that you surrender or abort the baby.
“Whose body is it, anyway?“
If the answer is, in any circumstance, that it is not mine, that it does not belong to me, then we have failed in our goal of promoting a free society in which we own our bodies.
This is an issue of extreme importance.
We have a request to ask of you: if you agree that you own your body and, male or female, this is a principle worth staking out the territory for, then please do two things:
1. Forward this message to 10 of your contacts asking them to join the free Health Freedom eAlert System. Here is the link to use: http://tinyurl.com/mybodymylife
Quite frankly, we need to replace supporters of health freedom who are not quite committed to the idea that such freedom means everyone, not just themselves. And we will lose some supporters by taking this unambiguous stand.
2. Make a donation here, http://drrimatruthreports.com/?page_id=189, to support the Natural Solutions Foundation, the largest, most active and most effective health freedom organization in the world.
Please make your tax deductible donation, large or small, to tell us that you value your own health freedom and, whether you believe in abortion or not, you believe in health freedom. Now. For you. For everyone else.
Yours in health and freedom,
Dr. Rima
