Responding to a request from Natural Solutions Foundation to make your voice heard, enough people went to the Health Freedom page from our site to vote our issue, Health Freedom, into third place and therefore into the second, and final, round of voting. Top ranked issues on Change.org will be presented to the new President on Inauguration Day. Health Freedom deserves to be Item Number 1 on the Issues List since Natural Solutions Foundation and you know that Health Freedom is Our First Freedom.

I’m particularly excited about the potential for change we have in promoting health freedom with the New Administration and Congress this year. They have the opportunity to show that their rhetoric for change has substance: we will give them the format to work with.
It’s certainly going to be a year of legal changes, and we’re ready. I’m currently working on proposed legislation divesting the FDA of its food regulatory authority. This important bill, which we will present to our friends in Congress, will give them the language and information they need to bring our food out of the shadow of Big Pharma, Big Biotechna, Big Chema, Big Biotechna and Big Govt and into the light of healthy food production and regulation. Our goal is to have a bill introduced in the New Congress which will move us forward with the Natural Solutions Foundation’s 2009 Legislative Goal of Divesting the FDA of its Food Regulatory Authority.

What a great way to start the New Year! Thanks to all you Mouse Warriors out there, we have wonderful news from Change.org —
“This idea [Health Freedom – Dr. Rima] finished in 3rd Place in the Health Care category and has therefore qualified for the final round. Final round voting will run from January 5th – 15th, and voting totals will be reset at zero for all qualifying ideas to ensure an equal playing field.”

But something strange happened on the way to this initial victory. We were the only Health Freedom organization to take advantage of the opportunity. On December 30, we asked you, along with all of your friends, to vote for Health Freedom at Change.org so that Health Freedom could be one of the 10 ideas presented on inauguration day to the new President.
You voted and got us into third place in a little over 24 hours. We went from 98th place to 3rd place, enough to get us into the second round. But something strange happened on the way to this initial victory. In the final hours of voting, leading up to midnight, December 31st, suddenly competing “Health Freedom pages” suddenly began showing up in the Health Care category. This flurry of December 31 page entries is unprecedented elsewhere on the Change.org system. For example, in Domestic Poverty, 45 Votes were recorded on Dec 31 @ 06:35AM PST for a single item. Interestingly, that item was the only December 31 entry in its category. Keep reading to find out why that flurry of “Health Freedom” pages is so significant!
Real Health Freedom advocates are activated and motivated: 10,644 people visited the page for which I asked you to vote by using our links. I suspect many of you were confused by the voting procedure – I know that I was and it took me some time to figure it out. Imagine what would have happened if we had all voted for a single idea: Health Freedom is our First Freedom! It would be far and away the winner in all categories.

The people who think that the most important thing is to defeat or damage the rest of the health freedom team so they get to be more important [or even worse motivations] are a serious problem to your health freedom. What happened at Change.org during this vote is a perfect example and we need to change it.
You probably know that there are irrational and irrelevant attacks on people in the health freedom movement – including us – by people with a variety of motivations. You also know that Natural Solutions Foundation does not attack anyone, ever. If anyone thinks that these attacks help anyone except the egos of the attackers and the other side, think again.
Here is a perfect example:
Our December 30 call blast asking you to go to www.Change.org and vote for Health Freedom as a major issue for the Obama Administration to consider was done with great seriousness. To get from where Health Freedom was at that point (98th place) to ranking in the first 3, we needed about 1200+ votes.
The Health Freedom page which we asked you to go to so you could vote had our organization listed as well as three others: we did not put up a page with only our organization because the issue is not us, it is Health Freedom for all of us. In other words, it’s about scoring a Health Freedom victory, not taking possession of territory. None the less, other people supposedly in the health freedom movement seem to have tried (but failed!) to stop YOU from claiming YOUR victory.
We garnered a total of 1804 votes in less than 24 hours, putting us in third place and putting us in the second round of voting. As soon as we started gaining traction, an astonishing additional 34 pages were posted with the phrase “Health Freedom” within hours of our eblast asking people to make Health Freedom a national priority. Now, it is possible that some people misunderstood the way the system worked and thought that by posting a Health Freedom page they were adding a vote. I know one of the posts by a friend of mine was surely an accident of that sort. But the “leaders” who posted those pages surely understood the process.
Consider this: there were a total of 140 votes for those “extra” 34 pages. One “leader” of the Health Freedom Movement posted her comments in 4 separate sections, each one of which got 5 votes. Why? Well, the result was that instead of being in second place, we came in third. It is hard not to conclude that the intent of those 34 pages was to drain off votes so that the issue went nowhere in the process.
Happily, you were active and committed enough to vote us into the final round and for that we thank you. But what sort of “leadership” is it to mobilize people for NEGATIVE benefit to the cause in which they claim to believe by such transparent misdirection?
The truth of the matter is that the other side — Big Pharma and its fellow “Bigs”: – Big Finance, Big Agra, Big Govt, etc., are well organized, huge, enormously well funded and very, very cleaver. They can certainly manipulate online efforts to seek to thwart us. But when our ostensible allies do it… For shame!
Can we really afford to behave this way any longer? Is this juvenile competitiveness worthy of us, is it the best we can do and can it win the Health Freedom War? The answer is clear.
Most people do not know or care about the attacks, counter attacks and foolishness of this behavior. They want their health and their freedom. But the so-called “leaders” who lead this way are leading them over a cliff.
OK. That’s over and what’s done is done. What’s next? The second round.
In a couple days we will be mounting a page on www.HealthFreedomUSA.org at which we will coordinate an all out campaign of support to reach first place nationally on Change.org. We hereby invite ALL of the Health Freedom groups to join us. If they do, we know which side they are probably on. If they do not, we know which side they are certainly on.
In other words, this is a Rubicon for Health Freedom. Just as when Caesar pronounced that the Romans crossing the River Rubicon would change Rome’s course forever, so this event created by Change.org, is a Rubicon for us.
Those who are willing to work together, drop their absurd territoriality and bickering, are welcome to join forces with you and with me. We are, after all, the single most powerful voice for health freedom in the world and your response over the New Year’s holiday proved that conclusively.
If others mount a divisive campaign, shame on them. If they mount a cooperative campaign, sunshine on them. If they continue to seek to divert our (and your) attention with irrational and even violence-implying attacks, we will rise above such pettiness and Keep Our Eyes on the Prize: Health Freedom.
For America and for the world, Health Freedom IS a First Freedom!
Change.org is one way we can tell the new administration in no uncertain, and very positive, terms what is needed to insure that our sovereignty over our own bodies is assured and that we are not menaced with “treatments”, toxins or threats to that personal sovereignty which is essential to free men and women.
So join us, from January 5 to January 15, in urging everyone you know to vote for Health Freedom, our First Freedom. And be ready to help everyone you know understand how important the simple click of a mouse can be to their health and health freedom.

Some time ago the Elders of the Hopi Nation (Oraibi, Arizona) issued a warning message to the world. HHS Declares ‘Health Emergencies’ to Limit Legal Liability for Anti-
terrorism Vaccines, Drugs

October Surprises: The U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary,
Michael Leavitt, has declared a series of ‘public health emergencies’
— due to risk of a bioterrorism attack — that continue through 2015.
Oct. 1, 2008: U.S. declares a ‘public health emergency’ due to the
risk of a bioterrorism attack. HHS Secretary, Michael Leavitt, said
the emergency began on Oct. 1 and would run through Dec. 31, 2015.
The declaration establishes legal immunity for public and private
officials who oversee the production or distribution of the anthrax
vaccine.
Oct. 10, 2008: U.S. declares more ‘public health emergencies’ for
smallpox, radiation sickness from the detonation of a nuclear device
and poisoning from botulinum toxins, the active ingredient of Botox.
This move provides the manufacturers, distributors, and others, of
‘anti-terrorism’ drugs and vaccines immunity from lawsuits, should
injuries or deaths occur due to the drugs or vaccines.
U.S. Limits Anthrax Vaccine Legal Liability By Elaine M. Grossman 07
Oct 2008 The U.S. Health and Human Services Department early this
month moved to shield government, industry and business officials
from lawsuits filed by those who have received the anthrax vaccine
(see GSN, Sept. 5, 2007). Health and Human Services Secretary Michael
Leavitt established legal immunity for public and private officials
who oversee the production or distribution of the anthrax vaccine by
declaring a “public health emergency†due to the risk of a
bioterrorism attack. He said the emergency began on Oct. 1 and would
run through Dec. 31, 2015. U.S. law provides protection from lawsuits
to individuals responsible for selected countermeasures, including
antibiotics, during a declared emergency. Under the Public Readiness
and Emergency Preparedness Act, which President [sic] George W. Bush
signed into law in December 2005, a health and human services
secretary’s emergency declaration can limit financial risk for
government program planners and the manufacturers or distributors of
pharmaceutical countermeasures.
Emergency declarations smooth way for vaccine makers –Consumer
advocates see action as giveaway to the drug industry that strips the
public of legal protections. 17 Oct 2008 In a little noticed move,
federal officials this month have declared a series of public health
emergencies relating to potential weapons of biological terror. On
Oct. 1, Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt declared an
anthrax public health emergency. On Oct. 10, he declared health
emergencies for smallpox, radiation sickness from the detonation of a
nuclear device and poisoning from botulinum toxins, the active
ingredient of Botox. There’s no clear evidence that terrorists have
managed to weaponize anthrax or stolen large caches of Botox from
cosmetic surgeons in Beverly Hills. But by declaring these public
health emergencies, HHS has granted manufacturers of anti-terrorism
drugs and vaccines and others involved with the products protection
from lawsuits if the drugs were to cause unfortunate side effects.
Bogus Anthrax ‘State of Emergency’ Protects Drugmakers, Not Public By
Brandon Keim 15 Oct 2008 Not a single case of human anthrax has been
reported in the United States this year, but the nation is now
officially in a state of anthrax emergency. The emergency was
declared earlier this month by the Department of Health and Human
Services, and will last until 2015. Whether it will protect public
health is debatable, but it will certainly protect makers of faulty
anthrax vaccines. Emergency exemption from legal liability is granted
to vaccine manufacturers by the Public Readiness and Preparedness
Act, passed in 2005 to protect against paralyzing lawsuits during
outbreaks of anthrax, avian influenza or other potentially pandemic
diseases. The act is supposed to be invoked when the Secretary of
Homeland Security has determined “that there is a domestic emergency,
or a significant potential for a domestic emergency, involving a
heightened risk of attack with a specified biological, chemical,
radiological, or nuclear agent or agents.”
37 human anthrax cases in northern Iraq outbreak 12 Oct 2008 Thirty-
seven people have been infected by anthrax in northern Iraq in the
country’s first outbreak of the disease since the 1980s, the health
minister in the Kurdish autonomous region said on Sunday. Health
Minister Ziryan Othman said the disease appeared to have been passed
on from livestock [?]. The first human case of the outbreak was
discovered in remote Dahuk province last month.
US controls bird flu vaccines over bioweapon fears 11 Oct 2008 When
Indonesia’s health minister stopped sending bird flu viruses to a
research laboratory in the U.S. for fear Washington could use them to
make biological weapons, Defense Secretary Robert Gates laughed and
called it “the nuttiest thing” he’d ever heard. Yet deep inside an 86-
page supplement to United States export regulations is a single
sentence that bars U.S. exports of vaccines for avian bird flu and
dozens of other viruses to five countries designated “state sponsors
of terrorism.” The reason: Fear that they will be used for biological
warfare.

Government mail carriers would deliver emergency supplies of
antibiotics to people in U.S. cities in the case of an anthrax
attack, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services officials said
on Wednesday. The system has been tested in three large [blue] cities
— Seattle, Philadelphia and Boston — and a pilot program is set to
begin soon in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area in Minnesota. The U.S.
Postal Service carriers who would bring the antibiotics from door to
door all would be volunteers who would have advance supplies of
antibiotics to protect themselves and their families, officials said.
Following any new attacks, the mail carriers would be escorted by
local police as they deliver supplies of a few days’ worth of
antibiotics directly to residences throughout an affected community,
HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt said.

HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt today announced two new actions in the
department’s ongoing activities to bolster the nation’s preparedness
for a potential outdoor anthrax attack. In development since March of
this year, the steps being implemented today build upon more than a
decade of preparedness efforts across HHS and other agencies of the
federal government. The first of today’s actions focuses on United
States Postal Service letter carriers who volunteer to deliver
medicines directly to residences in their communities during an
emergency… Over the past several years, under the Cities Readiness
Initiative (CRI), HHS and the Postal Service have successfully
developed and tested in three U.S. cities — Seattle, Philadelphia
and Boston –the ability of letter carriers to quickly deliver door-
to-door quantities of antibiotics from the Strategic National
Stockpile to residential addresses. This quick-strike capability is
intended to buy time for local and State public health authorities to
set up points of dispensing for further provision of antibiotics
across the community.
Judge Affirms Win for Plaintiffs in ‘Anthrax I’ Case By Elaine M.
Grossman 05 Sep 2007 For the first time, a federal judge last month
declared six U.S. defense personnel the definitive winners in a four-
year court battle over the anthrax vaccine. The Aug. 21 decision,
which revolves around payment of attorneys’ fees, is the latest
chapter in a protracted struggle over whether the Defense Department
can require service members to take the anthrax vaccine. U.S.
District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan decided the government defendants
must pay the plaintiffs’ expenses because the plaintiffs won the
case. The litigants — defense personnel who were required to take
anthrax vaccine shots in a Defense Department effort that began in
1998 — won the first round of litigation in October 2004, when
Sullivan issued a permanent injunction banning mandatory
inoculations. Based on a finding that the vaccine was never certified
to protect against “weaponized” airborne anthrax spores, the judge
declared the Pentagon’s mandatory vaccinations “illegal.”
HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/HSPD-21, issued 18 October
2007, states that within one year of the directive’s date, ‘the
Secretaries of Health and Human Services and Defense, in coordination
with the Secretaries of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security, shall
establish an academic Joint Program for Disaster Medicine and Public
Health housed at a National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public
Health at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences…

1918 Influenza Pandemic
“The effect of the influenza epidemic was so severe that the average life span in the US was depressed by 10 years. The influenza virus had a profound virulence, with a mortality rate at 2.5% compared to the previous influenza epidemics, which were less than 0.1%. The death rate for 15 to 34-year-olds of influenza and pneumonia were 20 times higher in 1918 than in previous years (Taubenberger). People were struck with illness on the street and died rapid deaths. One anectode shared of 1918 was of four women playing bridge together late into the night. Overnight, three of the women died from influenza (Hoagg). Others told stories of people on their way to work suddenly developing the flu and dying within hours (Henig). 1. We have been examining the historical record for latency and infectious periods (for example, for the 1918 pandemic and for the unweaponized Avian Flu). The latency period could be up to 2 weeks.
2. Our current best estimate is that people could start to notice symptoms as soon as a week after disbursal of the pathogen; the disease will, if especially virulent, cause death within 72 hours of first symptoms. The current unweaponized flu is deadly to 2/3 of those who catch it.
3. For example, if the pathogen were released, say, at the end of the Olympics, on August 23rd or 24th, people would start to notice symptoms by the end of the Labor Day Holiday (US Labor Day is September 1st this year).
4. By the time most US college students are back in school, say, September 5th, the media would begin to notice and the public authorities would be empowered to act, we suspect, within 72 hours of mass media notice (we believe the alternative media might “get wind†of the impending pandemic a day or a half day earlier).
5. That brings us to September 8th. We can expect national “lock down†and Martial Law within a couple days, as people panic to obtain food and protection. Places of public accommodation closed. End of Internet communications; possibly of telephone as well.
We note that the “Pandemic Avian Flu Vaccine†is scheduled to be delivered to the United States from the Chinese pharmaceutical plant where it is being made during August. The government issued its “Vaccine” allocation plan about a week ago.

I am writing this at 7:15 AM in my room at the Steigenberger Hotel, Bad Neuenahr, Germany. General Stubblebine and I were in San Francisco three days ago in a week-long meeting with our film makers for the new DVD on Health Freedom and the Codex Agenda. We have worked out a powerful and dynamic way of telling the story which is accurate, comprehensive, action-oriented and compelling film and we are all really excited. The Natural Solutions Foundation is attending the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU) this week. There are two initial workshops which we will also attend. The first, a Working Group on Gluten – Free Foods will take place today (in just a few hours) and the second will take place tomorrow on “Risk Analysis”. Every day the US has a meeting for Americans attending Codex and we will be attending those, too.
The meeting itself has a fixed agenda which is sometimes adhered to and sometimes not. In our observations, it is rigidly adhered to when that serves the intent of the Codex Committee and, most especially, the rather astonishingly dictatorial Chair of CCNFSDU, Dr. Rolf Grossklaus, MD, the man who declared in 2003 that “Nutrients are not relevant to human health!”. That is, I believe, a rather astonishing position for a physician with a specialty in Nutritional Medicine! Even more astonishing, of course, is his insistence that Codex treat nutrients like dangerous industrial toxins and subject them to “Risk Assessment”, a technique taken directly from toxicology in which the maximum doses of poisons to which humans can be exposed without discernible change is determined, cut by a “safety margin” (usually by dividing the highest dose that produced no changes by 100) and then declared to be a safe Maximum Permissible Upper Limit or MPUL for human exposure. Perhaps the fact that Dr. Grossklaus is the Chairman of the Board of a German company called bFR (which specializes in Risk Assessment of toxins, or, in this case, supposed toxins) and that he just might have a vested financial interest in making every known nutrient into something which must be tested, perhaps by his own company, just might have some impact on his insistence, with potentially deadly consequences, that nutrients are toxins. Hmmm. What do you think? Just perhaps?
This, a wildly inappropriate system for nutrient doses, is the very system that Dr. Grossklaus has been so very enthusiastic in driving Codex to in its determination of upper limits for nutrients. Upper limits for nutrients? Oh, yes, that violates US law since nutrients are, in our legal system, considered to be foods under the 1994 Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act (DSHEA). Under DSHEA, importantly, those very foods are generally considered to be safe since foods are generally considered to be safe and they ARE foods. Hmmm. What about the fact that the US FDA announced that it would ‘ “HARMonize” US food standards and regulation to International Standards even if not complete’ (which is bureaucratic talk for “Codex”)? Yes, indeed, what about it? We are asking people who have grave reservations about this illegal “HARMonization” to sign the Natural Solutions Foundation Citizens Petition, (http://drrimatruthreports.com/index.php?page_id=184) a legal challenge to this illegal stand by the corporate-compromised FDA.
CCNFSDU has a number of other activities besides setting upper limits on nutrition (not legal in the US, remember, but enthusiastically endorsed and supported by the FDA here at the meetings and at home). It is interesting to note that at many Codex meetings people from the FDA serve as the Delegate representing the US. (There is only one Delegate per country but they are supported by advisers from their country). Often the US Delegate at this meeting and at a number of others is Dr. Barbara Schneeman, Head of the Office of Dietary Supplements of the FDA. She is a pleasant lady who acts against the interests of makers and takers of Dietary Supplements at every turn, as far as I can see. For example, by moving the deadly and restrictive Vitamin and Mineral Guideline (ratified July 4, 2005, Rome, Italy) forward in CCNFSDU, she is setting up a situation in which the US must have, I kid you not, a “Nutrient Risk Manager” (!) who will determine the maximum dose available for any nutrient permitted in the US (!) as long as that maximum dose is NOT more than 15% higher than the dose of the nutrient found in unprocessed food (of course, that includes food grown in demineralized soils). Hmmm. Where is that FDA bread buttered? Could it be by the Big Pharma through their impact on every aspect of FDA policy whether it is for food or drugs? Consider the wisdom of divesting the FDA of its responsibilities for the regulation of food, a policy which the Natural Solutions Foundation is presenting to Congress in our Congressional Education program.
CCNFSDU also sets standards for infant formula and foods for other special groups. It was at this same committee last November that the Natural Solutions Foundation played such a pivotal role in blocking the US’s determined efforts to include fluoride (which even the American Dental Association now admits babies under 1 year should NEVER be exposed to) as a permitted additive to infant formula for healthy babies. With the help of our African and Asian health-friendly allies we kept baby formula safe from this deadly additive – except for sick babies, of course, which Dr. Schneeman made sure would be exposed to fluoride by a last minute maneuver as the meeting was closing!
