There’s a deeply welcomed Internet furor building over Senator John McCain’s new bill to restrict dietary supplements while giving the FDA MORE power to abuse. And, as always, Natural Solutions Foundation is at the head of the Health Freedom Parade: – our Action Item has been posted on the main pages of web sites such as www.CampaignforLiberty.com and www.GaryNull.com! There are other Action Items following our lead by at least half a dozen organizations. That’s all to the good. Take them, too!
The trustees of Natural Solutions Foundation, http://www.HealthFreedomUSA.org, have been warning for years that federal government power brokers have a plan to force Americans to give up their health freedoms and submit to centralized, internationalized restrictions on what we can choose to nourish our health and that of our families. It is, after all, the same plan being used to destroy the dollar and our other freedoms. GMOs are part of the problem as are dangerous vaccines, but right now the immediate threat lies in two companion phony “food safety” bills in the US Senate.
WE Dare Call It “Conspiracy”!
If you’ve been following health freedom in recent years you’ve seen some of the extraordinary reports by our own Dr Rima from the international Codex Alimentarius (World Food Code) meetings where attacks on health and freedom are often launched. Five years ago she warned about “Nutricide” – the intentional destruction of the body of knowledge about nutrition and health and the equally intentional deaths of large numbers of people through food manipulation.
Well over a half million people have seen that presentation. In that video she warned that the plan was for Codex controls to be implemented by the end of the first decade of the new millennium. Mandated under nutrition was to be instituted through Codex and billions would die of what WHO and FAO call the “preventable, non-communicable epidemic diseases of under nutrition: cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke diabetes and obesity”. While your “Push Back” last year stalled Sen Durkin’s disastrous “Food Safety” [sic] bill, S 510, that would have led to the suppression of family farms and ranches, natural agriculture, community gardens and the like, there is an effort being made by the usual power brokers (e.g., Big Pharma’s lackeys in both parties in the US Senate) to move their agenda forward by introducing yet another bogus “food safety” bill, this time S 3002, the “Dietary Supplement Safety [sic] Act” (DSSA) which would mandate the most important part of the Codex nutrient control system, the “approved ingredient list” for the US AND give the already bloated and deadly FDA power to take ANY nutrients off the market reneging on existing legislative protection for them.
This would be, in fact, exactly like the system imposed over the past few years in Europe, resulting in the complete loss of many nutrients (vitamins, herbs, minerals and amino acids) and, for those that remain, tremendous reductions in potency. NutraIngredients.com, a leading wellness industry site, reports that the European Food Safety Agency has rejected 80% of the “dossiers” seeking ingredient approval. Eighty percent of our nutrients could be taken off the market too!
We know for sure that high doses of fluoride will be permitted, but real nutrients are to be reduced, as they are in Europe, to totally ineffective levels. What’s left? Pharmaceuticals. Period.
That’s what Americans face – for sure- if the disastrous McCain bill is adopted.
We predict that something even worse is actually intended to take place: McCain’s bill will be merged with the companion Harkin “safety bill” S 510 and both our foods AND our supplements will become subject to more political power for the FDA to abuse. This is, you will recall, the same FDA that regularly approves drugs which prove so deadly that, within just a few years, half of them are quietly removed from the market. The same FDA which whitewashes mercury in vaccines, protected vaccine manufacturers from all liability, allows profound personal conflict of interest in the regulators who approve drugs and vaccines, refuses to allow GMO labeling….
Need we go on? This is one of the most dangerous and corrupt agencies in the US, and these bills would give it enough power to destroy what remains of either health or freedom, all at the behest of companies like Monsanto, Merck and their malignant ilk.
McCain introduced the bill last Thursday. The next day, the Natural Solutions Foundation sent an emergency Health Freedom Action eAlert to the www.HealthFreedomUSA.org list. We were, as far as we know, the first health freedom group to take action on this disastrous proposal by Senator McCain, who would seem to be securing his retirement pay with Big Pharma.
You’ve responded as we knew you would, riding your Freedom Mouse, generating over 75,000 emails to the Senate and President, since Friday night, saying “NO!” to the fake “safety” bills. We’ve seen clear evidence on the Internet that this issue is “going viral!” This means people are sending this information to all their social, personal, business and other contacts, beginning the process of generating an avalanche of public sentiment against the restrictions these bills would impose. DISSING Health Freedom
With the McCain bill’s apt acronym, DSSA (“DISS-sa”) we see the agenda playing out to our detriment, unless we take every step possible to stop this gambit to force through fake food and supplement “safety” bills. If they pass, the only thing safe will be Big Pharma and Big Agribiz, Big Biotech, Big Chema and Big Medica profits.
Learning from Europe’s Health Freedom Loss
Why is an “approved list” so bad? Here is what our own Counsel Ralph Fucetola has to say about this threat to our health choices, “The “Accepted Dietary Ingredient List” is especially troubling since such a code provision moves us away from our Common Law Right to access the foods we choose to a Civil Law (that is, Codex Alimentarius) regulation of what we may choose. Under the Common Law what is not explicitly forbidden is allowed; under the Code (“Civil Law”), whatever is not permitted is forbidden. This “lawyer’s distinction” is of the greatest significance in preserving our Liberty.” Only those things on the list will be permitted. The list is very, very short and the doses are very, very low.
A spokesperson for the Life Extension Foundation wrote about another aspect of the loss of health freedom which this bill assures, the vibrant nutrient marketplace: “If it were not for the technological advances made possible by private enterprise, the adverse effects of governmental ineptitude would have rendered this nation insolvent decades ago. Said differently, if it were not for the increases in productivity and reductions in costs made possible by free enterprise, government waste and fraud would have already destroyed us. “

The US will be “HARMonized” with the disastrous European Food Supplements Directive, under which, for example, colloidal and nano silver were taken off the market on January 1, 2010, homeopathic remedies are increasingly illegal to purchase in Germany, nutrients are less and less available and Europeans’ freedom to chose natural, safe, effective treatments have been virtually destroyed.

* Actually, we tally 390,000 emails generated through the Health Freedom Action eAlert system since McCain offered the bill on February 4th. Previously we had generated just about one million emails opposing the McCain bill’s “more evil twin”– the fake food “safety” bill, S.510, which was poised for adoption last November until about 150,000 messages poured into the Senate from us over one weekend.
We assume the rumor is correct and the McCain bill is dead. However, we’ve believed the McCain bill was just a stalking-horse for S.510 and intend to continue to push against that bill to make sure it is not amended to include McCain’s imposition of international Codex restrictions on our Dietary Supplement freedoms.

It was Constitutionalist Dr. Ron Paul (R-Texas) who described the FDA’s behavior as “an abuse of power…” and now failed presidential candidate John McCain lets us know where he stands: on the side of the power abusers and against the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) which a unanimous Congress adopted to protect our access to high potency nutrients. With the suppression of wholesome, natural nutrition and natural remedies will come the preventable diseases of mal- and under-nutrition, a lower population and profits along the way.
The “Accepted Dietary Ingredient List” in the McCain bill is an especially troubling provision since such a code provision moves us away from our Common Law Right to access the foods we choose to a Civil Law (Codex Alimentarius) regulation of what we may choose. The terms of this bill further the Globalist Eugenicidal Agenda (of the “Bigs” — Big Agribiz, Big Pharma, Big Finance, Big Govt…) in that they seek to treat dietary supplements, which are foods and therefore ought to be deemed safe if used as directed, as though they were toxins (while, of course, the agency treats the real dangers – GMOs, food additives, dangerous drugs, vaccines and industrial toxins as though they were perfectly safe). If they succeed, our best hope for safe foods and high potency nutrients could be gone.
Further, this bill needs to be seen in the context of the other fake “Safety” bill pending in the Senate, the The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, S 510, which does “for” family farms and ranches, natural and community food production what the McCain bill does to dietary supplements: create restrictions that the “Bigs” can live with but which will drive ethical, local production out of the market. February 3, 2010: New Legislation Poses Threat to DSHEA
At a press conference held earlier today, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced that he would be introducing legislation that would amend the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) to give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) additional powers over retailers and suppliers in the dietary supplements industry. The Natural Products Association is reviewing McCain’s bill, which is cosponsored by Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.), and offers this initial analysis regarding the impact of the legislation on the industry.
NPA will work aggressively to address this threat to the industry. The association will continue to keep its members informed and let them know how they can help protect their businesses.
Brief description of the provisions of the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010
New Requirements from Suppliers to Retailers
Suppliers and retailers regardless of size all along the chain of commerce are required to “obtain adequate written evidence” from the seller that the product is registered as required. That evidence must be retained in a file available for inspection.
Adverse Event Reporting (AER)
Requires reporting of all adverse events, not just serious adverse events. In addition, a compilation of non-serious AERs must be submitted annually, and records must be maintained for three years.
“Accepted Dietary Ingredients” List
Mandates creation by the Secretary of a list of “Accepted Dietary Ingredients” to replace the current “in commerce pre-DSHEA” test.
New Dietary Ingredients (NDI)
NDIs are considered adulterated unless there is a history of use or evidence of its safety. Registrants shall maintain a “scientifically reasonable substantiation file” available for inspection by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Registration required 75 days prior to market.
Recall Authority
Provides immediate recall authority to the Secretary upon determination that a supplement “would cause serious, adverse health consequences or death, or is adulterated or misbranded.” Companies subject to a recall have the right to challenge the order in an “informal hearing” within 10 days. At their own expense, retailers must notify customers of such recalls.
Registration of Dietary Supplement Facilities
Dietary supplement facilities shall register with the Secretary (required information includes name, address of all facilities, trade names, list of supplements, their ingredients, and labels). Registration is annual.

“…there are a host of problems in the bill serious enough to make it a completely irreparable and untenable piece of legislation. These include:
(1) The creation of completely outrageous European Food Supplements Directive (EFSD)/Health Canada-esque facility registration requirements for all brands, products and ingredients, despite the fact that food facilities are already required to be registered;
(2) The effective removal of the “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) status for most major dietary supplement/herbal ingredients, thereby deeming most supplements as “adulterated” unless they are included on the FDA’s “Accepted Dietary Ingredients” list;
(3) The creation and maintenance of voluminous safety dossiers on every dietary supplement and ingredient;
(4) The requirement that “all adverse events” (not just serious adverse events) relating to supplements be reported, including non-serious, trivial and unsubstantiated reports; and
(5) The codification of arbitrary and capricious cease-and-desist and recall authority based merely on the FDA’s “reasonable probability” that an item is adulterated or misbranded (this action can be taken regardless of whether the manufacturer is properly challenging the order).
This bill’s proposed establishment of an “approved list of ingredients” (much like EFSD’s approved lists of supplement ingredients and ingredient forms) is something to which the U.S. government (specifically the U.S. Codex delegation) has been adamantly opposed. So why would that same U.S. government endeavor to create “lists” – within its own borders – that it sees fit to battle against internationally?
In addition, the proposed provision that would require “all” adverse events to be reported would bog the AER system down with hundreds, if not thousands, of trivial and product-unrelated reports. This would serve to bury reports noting potential areas of commonality (signal events) in a garbage heap of useless information…”

You know that I am a physician and have practiced drug free psychiatry and medicine for decades. So I was more than a little excited when our Natural Solutions Foundation co-trustee, Ralph Fucetola JD, brought the Biologics products to our attention.

Dr. Rima Reports: Valley of the Moon Eco Demonstration Community
It has been a very busy couple of weeks since we returned to the Valley of the Moon™ Eco Demonstration Project, the Natural Solutions Foundation’s Headquarters Finca (farm) in the Highlands of Panama, from our Health Freedom USA 2010 War Council. I was way too jammed up with things I had to attend to in order to write to you all and tell you what is going on, but I am carving time out of a very, very busy day to share with you what is happening because it is so interesting and important.
General Bert and I were in the States for 3 weeks (willing to travel there only because your Push Back has – so far – managed to avert both an overt closing-down of society into a police state and mandatory H1N1 (or other) vaccination for all seeking to enter or leave the US.
As some of you may know from my interview with Gov. Jessie Ventura on his Conspiracy Theory show, mandatory vaccination is, in our opinion, still a very real threat. And yes, to answer the questions of some, I do see very serious threat to our freedoms or I would not be devoting my life, without pay, 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, to this work – nor would the other Foundation Trustees! So it is not a ‘victim consciousness’ which drives us, but a freedom awareness and a sense of deep and abiding empowerment. Following that, we attended the Health Freedom USA 2010 Health Freedom War Council, Jan. 2,3, 2010, in New Jersey. We spent the next few days meeting with people who are interested in our Eco Demonstration Projects. One of the Joint Ventures which will function at the project has created a structure for Clinical Trials here in Panama to support the Wellness Industry in the US, EU and elsewhere — to help it defend itself from intended extinction (and I am not using these words lightly) by the US and international forces (represented in the US by FDA/EPA/FTC, the minions of the pharmaceutical industry, and internationally by such forces as Pharma-funded WHO, Codex Alimentarius, etc.). These trials will be conducted in Panama at the Valley of the Moon Eco Demonstration Project and will help the industry which provides us with the products and devices upon which we depend for natural health (e.g., supplements, herbs, energy devices, etc.) while contributing to the funding stream which will make the Project self-sustaining. The Wellness and Seminar Center, here at the Headquarters Finca, is nearing completion and will provide an invaluable resource for us and for the community: There is not a single full-service Advanced medical center in Panama and, as the pressures against this type of health care (as opposed to Big Pharma’s disastrous and rationed illness un-care), this resource will become even more precious.
The kitchen is currently being finished so that we will be able to serve totally Beyond Organic meals, snacks and, of course VALLEY OF THE MOON COFFEE, www.ValleyoftheMoonCoffee.org, to guests and everyone else who values this kind of food. The chef? Our marvelous Gail Coba, whom some of you already know. What that means, of course, is that we will need people to replace many of the functions that Gail currently fulfills as Executive Director of the Valley of the Moon. One of the really nice things that happened yesterday is that we found someone who may do just that. Maciel is coming on board this coming Monday and is a highly accomplished young woman from this area who is fully bilingual (7 years in the US). She comes equipped with a lively mind and high level administrative skills – and cares passionately about food.
Today, Patrica, our Administrator (who was hired to be my Personal Assistant but whose skills and connections are so immense that she has morphed into our Panamanian Liaison and Administrator, leaving me without a Personal Assistant – hint, hint, hint!!!!) and I are going on a kitchen tour of the local restaurants with great kitchens made by the guy we have selected to do our stainless steel work. As with all our efforts, we seek to meet the “Songhai Principles” of Doing What We Do With Passion, Perfection and Profitability”. Our Beyond Organic Cafe will provide a showcase for natural products and procedures.
Today the tiles for that kitchen have been bought. It will, of course, double as a teaching kitchen. Oh, yes, Patricia arranged for approval of our restaurant and kitchen plans by the Board of Health and the Fire Department before we went ahead with construction. We had no idea that such approval was necessary … see what I mean about Patricia? The willingness of people like her from the community to work with us on our Goal of “discovering, developing, demonstrating, documenting and disseminating natural solutions” gives us great hope for the future.
Yesterday was a red letter day for Valley of the Moon in a number of ways. We went over to the Town of Boquete to investigate another source of organic produce (we have stunningly clean raw milk, by the way, and will begin the production of Valley of the Moon yogurt this week with flavors made from organic fruit and organic sugar cane sugar, Raspadura, made in precisely the same natural way that maple syrup is manufactured: extraction of the juice and hand stirring while the excess liquid is evaporated. The result is a cake of sweet, nutrient rich concentrated cane juice. Our Raspadura is grown in clean soil without any chemical inputs whatsoever and extracted in hand driven presses, then boiled in stainless steel vats, strained with leaves to clarify the liquid and formed in wooden molds into the sweet cakes that we use for baking, cooking and, now, yogurt flavoring!
Where are we going to sell it? Many places. Yesterday, we placed our Valley of the Moon Coffee in Organica, the store selling, guess what? Organic products, in Boquete. Our yogurt will go there next week!

Is our coffee organic? You bet it is, but it is not yet certified. We are in the process of having it certified right this very minute, as a matter of fact! I cannot tell you exactly when we can add that word to our labels and web site, but it is in the works and we are thrilled. We respect the serious consideration given to the “organic” label in Panama and look forward to that addition to our label.
While we were in Boquete we were warmly greeted by some folks who are on our mailing list. They asked us to come to lunch with them and give them an update on the state of Codex. We did so and forged a great alliance with them. They want to be part of our food chain. What does that mean?
Well, neither a restaurant nor a community, nor a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture, program in which people make an investment at the beginning of the growing season, sharing the risk with the farmer and then get a weekly delivery of goods during the harvest) can survive on coffee and yogurt alone, no matter how wonderful they are.
So this afternoon, after the kitchen tour, our Executive Committee (Bert, Gail, Patricia and I) will meet to discuss our plans for actually beginning to grow our food to our standards on land that we already control. To provide food which is truly Beyond Organic for the restaurant and our Community Supported Agriculture programs we must grow our own while we teach farmers how to meet our exacting standards, reclaim their soil, etc.
If you are thinking about coming with organic growing experience (and maybe some heirloom seeds…) in your pocket, now would be a very good time to share that with us! You would be most warmly welcomed, and given responsibility and opportunity to grow and to teach.
Tomorrow we will get 50 organically raised chicks. We will be creating a humane, clean and practical chicken production facility, grazing both milk cattle and beef and getting our seeds into the ground. Our only problem is that we have too many options and need to winnow them down!
We met last week with a group of “Gringos” (Expat North Americans and Europeans) in Panama City who want to work with us on the CSA project because they believe in what we are doing and because they want the food! So that makes Volcan, Boquete and Panama City as potential outlets for our Friendly Food Certified products. If you have the skills necessary to help make this happen, y’all come!
We are welcoming a potential participant tonight and will go to see the land that we would like to purchase for our community tomorrow. On Friday morning, he will visit the local International Baccalaureate k-12 school’s principal to see if that placement is right for his children.
We have already met with him and his delightful wife when we were in NJ for the Webinar and they would be wonderful additions to our community. We really hope they love it here!
Too funny, by the way: while Ralph and I did our weekly 2 hour radio show, the Dr. Rima Reports: Your Health, Your Way, www.TheFreedomLink.org, General Bert took our visitor to the hotel and had dinner with him. I learned when General Bert was on his way home that two men came up to him, introduced themselves and announced that they were looking for me because they had come to Panama to see the land and talk with us about becoming part of the Valley of the Moon Eco Demonstration Project. They are coming with us tomorrow to see the land! [We do prefer to hear from people in advance if they want to visit the VotM facilities.]
What truly impresses us are the level of natural-process skills the people interested in participating in the Project possess. We are truly honored that the Health Freedom community is responding so strongly to our effort to preserve and teach the natural skills and methods we all value.
There are several other people whom we met at the War Council event who we will be welcoming soon. Not only that, a participant, his wife and 3 pets are due next week in what we all believe is a permanent move here. He is an IT guy, she is a Certified Raw Chef!!!!!!! WOW! We look forward to their help developing the infrastructure for the Seminar (and Webinar) program we will be sponsoring from the Headquarters. We have a number of world-class experts in all areas of health and food ready to provide a superb educational program.
And, indeed, one of our brilliant friends: scholar, inventor, innovative nutritional provider and War Council presenter and his talented wife, are also coming into the project as full participants – and more, which we cannot talk about yet.
Following our meetings in NJ with potential Clinical Trial clients, we were about to come back to Panama immediately but, because of an opportunity to further the project in some remarkable ways, we changed our plans and went to Denver for a week.
There we met with, spent time with, and got a commitment from a remarkable man who has the potential to bring about large impact soil reclamation impacts with reduced effort.
He agreed to come to Panama to do a field test: we will select 5 farms at various altitudes which are highly contaminated with agricultural chemicals and do laboratory analysis on the quality of the soil, including the level of chemical contamination, the bacteria and other characteristics of the soil.
Following that, we will apply the technology he brings to the project to 1/2 of each of the 5 farms and re-analyze the soil. We will also document the crop growth characteristics on the treated and the untreated halves.
If the technologies prove useful, then we will offer to apply them to the entire country. This is potentially an experiment of global significance. But before we go forward with it on a large scale, we need, of course, to document the effects. I don’t know about you, but being part 0f this level of creative development and exploration is enormously gratifying and satisfying to the Trustees of the Natural Solutions Foundation and everyone else who is involved in what we are doing.
Since dairy is very important here, we will also apply the technologies to 5 cows whose milk output and characteristics are already well document and use another 5 cows as controls. Their output, milk solids, bacterial count and other output characteristics will be carefully documented following this application.
You can assume, and you would be totally correct, that this technology is entirely without negative consequences for humans, animals and the environment. Precisely like the medicine I practice, if it can harm, we would not do it. If it can help, we will. That is why, under the Precautionary Principle, we cannot support the release of GMO “foods” onto the market.
