“My brain needs protein for breakfast, what about yours?”
How about nourishing non-grain foods for breakfast? We really do need to rethink breakfast, but further and deeper than the article suggests.
Fresh cereal is still a carbohydrate meal when, following its night of no food (the “fast” we need to break in break-fast) when what we need to regulate blood sugar, provide nutritional support for the day, etc., is protein.
As I read my email (and write this comment) during my breakfast this morning, for example, I am enjoying a bowl of hot lamb stew. All the ingredients are organic. I made it last night out of onions, carrots, lamb, yogurt, rogan josh sauce, organic gazpacho soup and some water. It was last night’s main course and it is providing me with flavor to savor and nutrients to live on as my first meal.
We have been well brain-washed to believe that breakfast needs to be different from lunch or dinner when, in fact, it needs to be good, healthy food that supports our well-being. And carbs + unhealthy dairy simply does not quality.
