“Nutraceuticide”: The Death of Nutritional Medicine
To understand why Codex equals the death of nutritional medicine, let me introduce you to a new word: Nutraceutraceuticid, (new truh sue tih side):
1. The death of individuals and populations through intentional restriction of vital nutrients to sub-clinical doses in the presence of a massively adulterated food supply
2. The death of the nutritional health profession through limitation of supplemental nutrients to a small number of ultra low dose materials with no biological effect in the presence of a massively adulterated food supply
3. The termination of natural health options and strategies by criminalizing the means and materials necessary for those strategies
Nutriceuticide is rapidly being put in place by Codex Alimentarius (Latin for “Food Rules”) which classifies nutrients as toxins from which we need protection (!) inappropriately using Risk Assessment (a branch of toxicology) to determine permitted nutrient doses so low that, by design, they have no impact on any human being.
Codex ratified the restrictive Vitamin and Mineral Guideline July 4, 2005 (Rome) which, when globally enacted, is expected to result in the death of at least 3 billion people according to the World Health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization (WHO/FAO) estimates. At the same time, clean, unadulterated food (free of pesticides, exogenous growth hormones, veterinary drugs, irradiation and genetic modification) will be unavailable and actually illegal! Information which includes health benefits associated with nutrients would be forbidden.
Although the US is currently protected by laws which prevent us from “HARMonizing” with standards like these, these protective laws are under significant legislative attack. Equally chilling, clinically effective doses of nutritional supplements will no longer be legal once the United States is “HARMonized” with Codex Alimentarius.
Created in 1962 as a UN trade commission, Codex Alimentarius sets World Trade Organization (WTO) trade sanction-enforced global standards for everything ingested: crops, animal food, animal feed, processed food, nutrients, water, etc. These regulations clearly serve the interests of multinational Bigs: Big Pharma, Big Agribiz, Big Chema, Big Biotechna and Big Medica.
Codex permits pesticide and toxin residues which are incompatible with human health and longevity, mandates food irradiation, antibiotic and hormone treatment of food animals (and Monsanto rBGH in all dairy cattle world wide), while declaring that nutrients are toxins. As toxins, they are restricted to daily dosages determined by Risk Assessment (toxicology) to have no impact on any human, no matter how sensitive. These nutrient restrictions (in conjunction with an adulterated food supply) serve to guarantee a steady market for pharmaceuticals. Nutritional strategies for health will be both unavailable and illegal.
If Codex implementation is permitted to take place, it spells the death of nutritional health strategies.
What can we do?
1. Write Congress with a personalized letter telling them why you treasure your health freedom and how they need to support it.
2. Organize your friends and visit your Congressional delegates. Tell them to oppose the pro-illness legislation before them (and the many more to follow). Write them a follow up letter after you see them.
3. Help everyone you know to take steps 1 and 2 above. Use the internet! It works.

Need a job? NewsTarget.com has just received word on several openings for cushy jobs with the FDA. Why keep working in powerless civilian positions when you can get paid by the government and wield power over others! Here’s what the agency is looking for:
PROPAGANDA OFFICER
No scientific background necessary. As a Propaganda Officer, you will help the FDA invent and dispense information that discredits products, companies and ideas that threaten FDA control over the monopolistic drug industry. Previous experience in a pharmaceutical company preferred. A background in public relations, communications or used car sales is a plus.
Career opportunities abound at the FDA, and it’s easy to succeed with this job since the mainstream press will print practically anything you say, regardless of whether it makes any scientific sense, as long as it’s on official FDA letterhead. Starting salary: $75,000 plus a license to kill any idea (or health business) you don’t like.
SCIENCE CENSOR
Have a scientific background? Put it to good use at the FDA as a respected Science Censor. Your job will be to bury all the scientific findings that harm the prestige and credibility of the FDA. Your main job is making sure all the drugs we’ve approved continue to be seen as safe, even when clinical studies reveal otherwise.
A variety of high-tech tools will be at your disposal. You’ll have direct phone lines to all the medical journals, a team of paralegals to generate legal threats, and you’ll even have your own personal shredder right beside the incoming fax machines where doctors fax voluntary drug side effects reports. Help us keep dangerous drugs on the market for as long as possible, and you’ll earn big performance bonuses!
Starting salary is $35,000 from the FDA, plus a $250,000 annual bonus paid by various drug companies, based on merit.
CHIEF OPPRESSION OFFICER
Ever wanted to carry a gun? Now you can wield power as an FDA employee, conducting armed raids on clinics where dangerous criminals are conducting illicit operations like healing people with prayer or teaching patients about nutrition. You can even raid buses full of senior citizens returning from medication-buying trips in Canada or Mexico! Previous military experience is a plus, ex-Gitmo interrogators preferred. (Duct tape and broomsticks provided upon request.)
No scientific or medical knowledge required, since you don’t really need to understand the reasons why you’re conducting armed raids. Just follow management’s orders, and we’ll hand you a gun and a badge, all in the name of protecting the public from the criminals of alternative medicine.
Starting salary is $65,000 plus all the free Prozac you can swallow.
(Antidepressant side effects are a plus in your line of work.)
KICKBACK COORDINATOR
As the Kickback Coordinator, your job is to keep tabs on FDA managers’ investments in pharmaceutical companies. You will maximize investment portfolios, produce reports that identify which drugs the FDA should approve next in order to boost shareholder profits, and serve as a courier for illicit cash exchanges.
There is no starting salary, but you do get a percentage of the kickbacks you manage. Criminal background preferred, mob ties are a plus.
MORALE OFFICER
The FDA’s morale has been harmed lately by utterly false accusations from certain FDA whistleblowers. As a Morale Officer, your job will be to keep all FDA employees in line as a way of boosting overall morale and work efficiency. It’s good for the economy!
To enforce proper morale among FDA employees, especially those involved in drug safety operations, you will be granted insider access to top-secret FDA technologies currently under development, including our “Graham buster” verbal silencer (patents pending) and a building-wide subliminal program broadcast system. “All profitable drugs are safe… All profitable drugs are safe…”
Salary: $85,000 plus free unlimited cable television.
CANADA BASHER
Do you share our hatred for those snooty Socialist Canadians? Join the FDA as a full-time Canada basher, and get paid to do what you love
best: insult Canada!
As you may know, the free market sales of prescription drugs from Canada threatens the FDA-controlled monopoly market for drugs in the U.
S. We need help to discredit Canada so that gullible U.S. consumers will distrust Canadian pharmacies and keeping shelling out their hard-earned cash at overpriced U.S. pharmacies (which we regulate and control, of course).
We already have a few old tricks to assist you in this job, like claiming that terrorists will poison all the drugs in Canada. You will have to come up with other strategies like claiming that Canadian pharmacies have no quality control, unlike U.S. pharmacies where pharmacists never, ever make mistakes.

PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAM DIRECTOR
In this role, you will actually work to protect the public from unsafe ingredients in foods, drugs and cosmetics. This is not really a full-time job. In fact, you do not even need to show up.
No experience necessary, in anything. No education required. Starting salary is minimum wage. You must bring your own desk to work, if you want one. That is, if you actually want to work at all.

OK, now to today’s blog:
Did you ever get an email that made your whole day bright and sparkly? Well I did. I get about 1000 emails a day and I answer every one myself (so sometimes I get a little behind) but I try to read them all the day they come in even if it takes me a couple of days to get the answer out. Well, today’s inbox had a treat for me.
My treat was an email from a lady who wrote to tell me about the health freedom advocacy group that she runs in her state with local units that have a regular program of contacting their legislators on a regular basis on health freedom issues and making regular trips to visit their legislators.
They have a program of development with manageable goals for fund raising, for new members, for legislator contacts and for information dissemination. I was thrilled and asked her if she would like me to be present by speakerphone for the next meeting so the people present and I could interact with questions, suggestions, etc.
That’s exactly what we need: local meetings in homes, stores, offices of practitioners, etc, with an easy and manageable organization providing goals and materials for touching each and every senator and representative in his or her home district by phone, mail to their district offices, emails to their DC offices and, perhaps most important, visits to see them in their home offices. When you visit your Congressmen and women, you can look them in the eye and they can see that you are 1. Well informed, 2. Serious about the issue, 3. A real person, not a concept with no face and 4. A voter with friends and the conviction to vote on what you believe.

Apparently my blog, “Miracle in Rome” left some people confused. Let me respond to the comments which some of you have been kind enough to share with us.
On Wednesday, July 6, the joint World Health Organization (WHO) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Consultant’s Report was presented to the 28the CODEX ALIMENTARIUS Commission (CAC). Its 20 recommendations were formally presented for discussion by the CAC at that time. This Consultant’s Report was commissioned in 2002 because of serious concern over CODEX and its work and this was an important opportunity for the CAC to deal with some suggestions for improvement in performance and reduction of bureaucratic overburden.
Out of the 20 recommendations by WHO and FAO, the 18th is what the excitement is all about: it notes that CODEX had no relationship with nutrition and that it needed to determine whether it had one and, if so, what that relationship is.
This is a stinging rebuke to Dr. Rolf Grossklaus, chair of the CODEX Committee on Nutrition and Food for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU), the 1994 decision of that committee to continue to classify nutrients as toxins, its use of toxicology (“Risk Assessment”) to prevent doses of nutrients high enough to have any clinical impact and his stated position that “nutrition has no place in medicine” (reported by Paul Anthony Taylor at the November, 2004 CCNFSDU meeting in Bonn, Germany). Dr. Grossklaus has railroaded the use of Risk Assessment, a branch of toxicology, to make any but clinically ineffective, ultra low doses of a few nutrients on a highly restricted list available. Everything else will be illegal, whether or not a doctor thinks you should have it.
At the same time, it is an equally stinging rebuke for the CODEX Committee on Food Labeling which has prohibited the discussion or mention of any benefits provided by nutrients under any conditions.
Astonishingly, the chairman of the CAC refused to allow discussion of that resolution. Read the hubris of that for a moment: the WHO and FAO had just made their evaluation of CODEX public and the recommendations that come from that evaluation were presented to the CAC for discussion and the CAC could not even have a discussion about whether CODEX should have a relationship to nutrition by his autocratic (but unopposed) decision. Health Freedom advocates should not be very proud of the US’s performance in this body, by the way. Don’t forget that harmonization with international regulations which violate US law (CODEX violates DSHEA) is illegal in the US and the Vitamin and Mineral Guideline will violate DSHEA (assuming that we can protect it from threats like HR 3156, of course).
The World Health representative and her FAO counterpart were not at all amused. Shortly before his autocratic dismissal of Recommendation No. 18,, when the Chairman and members of the CAC were demanding more money from WHO and FAO (who provide CAC’s funding), the CAC Chairman was busy chastising the WHO for not increasing its budget for several years. The WHO representative told CAC that it was not going to get more money “by griping about it here” and that the WHO was not likely to give more money to the CAC at all, in fact. Chief among the reason, she said, in public, to the assembled CAC, was that CODEX ALIMENTARIUS HAD FAILED TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO WORLD HEALTH during its 42 year history!
Think about that from the point of view of a political analyst and you will see the opportunity presented to our side. There is clearly a pro-health side to this system. CODEX isn’t it, of course, but the pro-health forces control the purse strings. It is true that WHO has never been really big on nutrients, but it does recognize that they, along with diet and exercise, play a vital role in health preservation and disease prevention. CODEX, of course, does not.
Things got a whole lot better the next day, though. On Thursday, July 7, at the end of the day, after all of the CAC deliberations had concluded (with precisely zero attention to either the concepts of Recommendation No. 18 or the comments of the WHO representative), the WHO representative, along with those from FAO made it clear that CODEX would redirect its efforts and that it would make a contribution to human health by implementing the WHO Global Strategy on diet, nutrition and exercise either by redefining the purposes of the committees which deal with nutrition (CCFL and CCNFSDU) or, if CAC did not chose to do that, by creating a Task Force on Nutrition. The CAC meeting then came to a stunned close.
Suddenly the ground shifted and nutrition had a strong, protected foothold and two very protective advocates, the WHO and the FAO. That does not mean, of course, that the Bigs (Big Pharma, Big Agra-Biz, Big Chema, Big Biotechna and Big Medica) are going to role over and play dead. Quite the contrary. What it does mean, though, is that we, the health advocates, have people who are listening to our position on health and who have both CAC’s financial reins and the procedural ones.
The next day, Friday, July 8, was devoted to the CODEX Trust Fund, money set aside to bring the developing world into the CODEX process while Saturday morning, July 9, was a review of the report of the meeting provided by the CODEX Secretariat. Notably, not one word in that report reflected what I have just told you. It was as if it had never happened! But it did happen and, in fact, these events constitute the best news that health and health freedom have had since the passage of DSHEA in 1994!
We now have the opportunity to support the parent organizations in demanding that CODEX “make a contribution to human health” or that it cease its work!
If you have been following our interpretation of CODEX you know that it is far, far worse than just a restriction of nutrients. But CODEX has to make a contribution to human health and we have the opportunity to help it do just that! Up till now, we have been fighting the Bigs alone. Now we have two internationally respected and powerful organizations (which, by the way, control the funding of CODEX) on our side IF we communicate with them correctly. If we shout imprecations at them they will not listen to whatever we say. We need reasonable presentations of strong science, firm and rational logic and data well organized to make the point that CODEX’s anti-health guidelines and standards violate the very tenets upon which health rests for the planet.
Gift? Yes! Miracle? Apparently! Time to stop? Not if we want to preserve both health and health freedom on this planet!
