Declaration of Freedom to Choose Natural Remedies
The FDA is Wrong Again
This is Another Attempt to Curtail Your Health and Commercial Freedom
Declaration of Freedom to Choose Natural Remedies
.
Whereas the Natural Solutions Foundation and its allies in the health freedom movement have issued formal Declarations asserting our health freedom rights periodically over the past decades [1]
.
Whereas it is appropriate for health freedom advocates to come together once again and speak with one voice, regarding our basic human right to use all natural means to achieve and maintain a healthy status,
.
Whereas a perpetual guarantee, the Herbalists Charter of 1542 [2], enshrines in law the common right to use herbs, essential oils, extracts and other natural substances as we see fit for our own health and that of others,
.
Whereas United States case and statutory law affirms the right of access to substances which are bio-identical to those made by our own bodies, and
.
Whereas the right to informed consent is guaranteed by international and domestic law,
.
WE, THE HEALTH FREEDOM ADVOCATES OF THE WORLD DECLARE:
.
1. It is the basic human right of each individual, arising from the right of informed consent, to choose his or her own preferred means for health.
.
2. Among these natural means are certain dietary substances created and utilized by the human body.
.
3. We mention herein three examples, CBD (cannabidiol) [3], melatonin [4], and DHEA (didehydroepiandrosterone)[5] but include by implication, all natural substances made and utilized by the human body.
.
We hold as a basic principle of international law that each person must be free to make informed consent decisions regarding his or her own health.
.
We reject as contrary to binding law the proposition that governments may deny free humans access to natural means for health, including, without limitation, supplementation with all natural substances produced or utilized by the human body.
.
In this context, we reject all restrictions on the manufacturing, marketing, possession and use of such substances. In particular we point to Cannabidiol, Melatonin and DHEA as such substances. In 1995 a court decision, in the DHEA Cases, held that dietary ingredients are not prescription drugs nor controlled substances.[6]
.
Therefore, we call upon all competent authorities to recognize and respect our legally protected right of access to such natural means in order to achieve and maintain a healthy status.
.
We assert our right and petition for redress of grievances:
.
TELL DECISION MAKERS:
DO NOT RESTRICT NATURAL MEANS TO HEALTH IN ANY WAY!
.
We urge all free people to assert this right by communicating with their representatives and demanding Freedom for Natural Remedies.

.
In the early 1990s, research scientists identified a system they named “the endocannabinoid system”. This system is located in our brains and bodies. The system is made up of cell receptors and of the chemicals that bind to these receptors. This system has been identified in the some of the most primitive creatures on earth. It has been found to be the most widespread receptor system in the human body, explaining why cannabis has so many different effects. The endocannabinoid system appears to regulate many important physiologic pathways in the human body, including gastrointestinal activity, cardiovascular activity, pain perception, maintenance of bone mass, protection of neurons, hormonal regulation, metabolism control, immune function, inflammatory reactions, and inhibition of tumors cells.
.
The cannabinoid receptor system has two kinds of receptors:
• CB1 receptors – found mostly in the brain, spinal cord and other parts of the body including the heart, uterus, testis, liver, small intestine and peripheral cells
• CB2 receptors – found mostly on cells of the immune system, including the spleen, T-cells, B-cells and macrophages
.
A group of compounds, called cannabinoids, bind to the receptors. Cannabinoids come from three different places:
.
• Endocannabinoids – these are produced by the body on demand, usually in tesponse to injury; five different endocannabinoids have been identified, including anandamide and 2-AG
• Synthetic cannabinoids – these are produced by scientists in a laboratory and include dronabinol (Marinol) and nabilone (Cesamet)
• Phytocannabinoids – these are produced by the cannabis plant; there are over 85 cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, including THC and cannabidiol as the main two…”

[4] “Melatonin, chemically N-acetyl-5-methoxy tryptamine, is a substance found in animals, plants, fungi and bacteria. In animals it is a hormone that anticipates the daily onset of darkness; however in other organisms it may have different functions. Likewise, the synthesis of melatonin in animals differs from that in other organisms.
.
In animals, melatonin is involved in the entrainment (synchronization) of the circadian rhythms of physiological functions including sleep timing, blood pressure regulation, seasonal reproduction and many others. Many of melatonin’s biological effects in animals are produced through activation of melatonin receptors,[4] while others are due to its role as a pervasive and powerful antioxidant, with a particular role in the protection of nuclear and mitochondrial DNA.”
