Foundation Trustee and counsel, Ralph Fucetola JD comments: “One thing this bill should end is the suggestion from some in the FDA that it was unlawful to label food “GMO Free.” Although FDA never appears to have attempted to enforce that opinion. Now companies are clearly free to declare their GMO Free status, if that claim is “truthful and not misleading.”

In a surprise move, US Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman, Sen. Pat Roberts, is pushing the anti-GMO labeling bill, the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015 (called by its opponents, the DARK Act — the Deny Americans the Right-to-Know Act) to a vote this Thursday, February 25, 2016.

The Senate bill, companion to a bill (HR 1599) which passed the House last year, languished in the Senate as more state governments considered requiring Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) food labeling.
.
The federal bill would ban such state laws. Opponents claim the bill violates the Nineth and Tenth Amendments to the Constitution which guarantee state authority where the Constitution does not give the federal government exclusive power.

Comments from GMOFreeUSA highlight the political background of Senator Roberts’ move:

“The agrichemical industry and Big Food are desperate to stop Vermont’s mandatory GMO labeling law from taking effect on July 1. They’ve enlisted Senator Pat Roberts, Chair of the Senate Ag Committee, to do their dirty work. Sen. Roberts is the sponsor of a new DARK Act bill that would violate the 10th Amendment, squash Vermont’s law and prohibit any state from passing mandatory GMO labeling in the future.

Senator Roberts says if Vermont’s law isn’t stopped, “all sorts of bad things happen.” Bad things? Like the people of Vermont would know which foods were genetically engineered? Monsanto may think that’s bad. We certainly don’t. And we don’t think you do either.

Right now, there is a new bill before the Congress of the United States which will make GMO labeling mandatory. While we here at the Natural Solutions Foundation support the total ban of GMOs, the best way to break the back of the industry which now controls – and contaminates – nearly all soy, corn and increasing amounts of sugar production in the US is for consumers to refuse to buy products with GMO ingredients in them. In response to Cafe Mom´s Nicole Fabian-Weber´s article Parents Are Hiring $250-an-Hour ‘Coaches’ to Make Their Picky Kids Eat
Actually, I would look in to why the child was a picky eater (whatever that means to you and your family).
Children who are not attaching excessive meaning to food are usually pretty good about supplying their own nutritional needs if the food available is wholesome, varied and not larded with familial meaning, giving the child and the food undue power in the dynamics of the family.
But the article starts off with kids who are goldfish and french fry loving: these foods are made with components designed to addict the consumer (“Betcha Can’t Eat Just One!”). Why in the world would a loving parent feed these PHUDES (looks like food, may even taste or smell like food, but it is not food and does not support life and health) to kids whom they have a responsibility to take care of? Oh, wait! Mom and Dad eat this garbage, too.
OK! So now the problem is what the kid won’t eat because food scientists have addicted the kid to chemicals like MSG (which goes by over a hundred different names) and unregulated the neurological satiety center with fake fats, flavors, etc.?
Not.
If the issue is not emotional, then here is the solution: clean up the entire family’s diet and learn, together, what real food is, what it looks, tastes and smells like and what it actually feels like in your body.
Go organic. Make food (in advance, if necessary) and eat it. Together. At the table. In a pleasant setting where eating good, wholesome food is a pleasurable experience. And don’t break training. MacDonalds is a health catastrophe, not a reward!

You need answers to the critical risks the government and crony corporatists insist you and your family take, regarding what Bert has identified as the “genomicidal technologies” that will lead to the foreseeable disaster that awaits all people who, in their hubris, believe that the laws of nature can be abrogated by political will.
Today that means you are being subjected to more and more environmental toxins from all sources, capped by the uninsurable risks of nuclear power and vaccines. There is no salvation except through natural solutions. We continue to discover, document, develop, demonstrate and disseminate those solutions.
We’ve shown this, with Fr. Godfrey (see: http://youtu.be/IOhBtHpCtAg) and our recent contacts in Chile and other parts of South America. There is, at present, no overwhelming radiation threat in the South. The threat in the North, though, continues to grow day by day while those who think they control the situation hope that ignoring it will let it go away. This will not happen. Fukushima and the other genomicidal technologies are creating a disaster of “biblical” proportions.
We have, however, a plan. Together we can feed the Northern Hemisphere from pristine farms in the Southern Hemisphere — at a profit, because as Fr. Godfrey says, “Such projects need to be done with passion, with perfection and with profitability…”
We will do this through the Friendly Food CoOp and the other projects of the Fund for Natural Solutions. And that’s where you come in. We intend to present the Fund and the CoOp to discerning, conscientious investors in Houston (on April 28th) and Dallas (on April 29th) and in the San Francisco Bay area on May 3rd. We need your help in reaching a two dozen people we can invite to an evening of good food, our extraordinary, all natural Valley of the Moon Coffee (yes, the new crop is ready!) and an opportunity to invest in the Fund for Natural Solutions.
